Impact Wrestling put out a press release on Monday about their upcoming Bound For Glory PPV, and the press release made no mention at all of the “Global Force Wrestling” name, instead only referring to the company as “IMPACT Wrestling.” The Bound For Glory logo also only had “Impact Wrestling” branding, with no GFW in sight.
Company officials have now confirmed to Dave Meltzer that the GFW name is being phased out and the company is rebranding as just “Impact Wrestling” yet again.
Though they rebranded as GFW just two months ago after announcing that Global Force Wrestling had been acquired by Anthem, the acquisition and merger was never officially completed and the GFW name is still owned by Jeff Jarrett. Jarrett, of course, is currently on a forced “indefinite absence” and may or may not be back with the company.
According to Dave Meltzer, there was a lot of sentiment among officials to not rebrand again and to just continue to use the GFW name, but it looks like they’re going to do it anyway.
They did a lot of logo changes and even got all new championship belts with the “GFW” name on them, and their supposed new streaming service that was supposed to launch last week (but hasn’t) was called “Global Wrestling Network.”
The goal also appears to eventually make Impact a Canadian company, moving the headquarters from Nashville, TN to Toronto, ON, where Anthem Entertainment is based.
