As previously reported, Chris Jericho was a guest on a recent episode of The Other Guys podcast show. During the show, Jericho revealed what it would take for him to have another run in the WWE and why he feels comfortable enough to consider retirement instead.
During the same episode, Jericho also revealed working on the Festival of Friendship skit was among his favorite moments of his WWE career. Jericho stated he spent months working on an idea meant to be both over-the-top in ridiculousness and also act as the way to breakup JeriKO as a team.
“I had that idea months earlier, to do a big spectacle with dancing girls and the whole thing, and then it was constantly being changed. Even the day of the show it was changed and I didn’t like it and I knew my way was better. I stood up for it, even to the point of calling Vince when he was on a plane in the middle of the air and pitching my case, not taking no for an answer, not allowing my vision to be changed.”
Jericho mentioned the inspiration for the idea came from the “Red Wedding” scene in Game of Thrones on how a joyous occasion turned south very quickly. He wanted to do something similar in tone as the way to end JeriKO.
“The ‘Red Wedding’ from Game Of Thrones was something that was really resonating, where you have this brilliant, beautiful and fun moment and then it just goes south in such a quick fashion where you can’t believe it,” Jericho said. “That, to me, was the brilliance of it.”
Jericho stated he considers the Festival of Friendship skit to be one of his favorite things done during his career in the WWE. He even considers it as a possible “crown jewel” moment for his entire time in the WWE.
“It was definitely one of my favorite things that I’ve done, maybe even the crowning jewel of what I’ve done in all these years being in the WWE,”
