Kickoff Show Match
WWE Cruiserweight Championship
Neville (c) vs. Akira Tozawa
Vic Joseph and Corey Graves were on commentary. Tozawa was accompanied to the ring by Titus O’Neil. They went to commercial for WWE Network in the middle of the match, as usual… This was an alright match that picked up the pace a lot in the last minute. After Neville missed a cool middle rope Phoenix Splash-like move, Tozawa nailed a top rope senton but Neville immediately rolled out of the ring. Tozawa rolled Neville back in and ran at him, but Neville tossed him up and Tozawa landed balls-first on the top rope. Tozawa writhed in pain and Neville hit him with a spinning kick for the win.
Winner: Neville
Seth Rollins vs. Bray Wyatt
This kinda felt like a standard meaningless Raw or house show match. After like 15 minutes, Wyatt went for Sister Abigail, but Rollins blocked it. Bray went for a suplex, but Rollins countered into a Falcon Arrow. While Wyatt was outside, Rollins started punching at him, but Wyatt hit him with a thumb to the eye, “blinding” him. Wyatt then hit a Sister Abigail and actually won…
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Backstage Interview: The Hardy Boyz
Matt Hardy said he was just watching cartoons that had super villains in them with his kids and now he and Jeff will be taking on real life super villains, and that was “delightfully ironic.” Jeff Hardy said that they “break” bars.
Enzo Amore vs. Big Cass
Enzo came out first and cut a promo, saying that last year, he and Cass debuted right here in Dallas. He said that that was love, but this is war. He compared the lyrics of Frank Sinatra’s “That’s Life” to his life. Enzo said that he’s a star, and Cass is just 7 foot tall, and he’ll always be in Enzo’s shadow. He then said there was only one word to describe Cass and he was going to spell it out for him. Really long promo…
Big Cass had a new heel theme, which sounded really generic… Not a good sign. Cass dominated the entire match. The crowd started chanting “asshole” at Cass. Cass gorilla pressed Enzo from the ring to the outside, then taunted the crowd as they booed him. The referee counted to 9, but Enzo climbed back in. Cass looked annoyed and disappointed, then nailed Enzo with a big boot for the win in about 5 minutes. Enzo’s promo was longer than the actual match, I think. Cass intensely stared at Enzo as he lay in the ring.
Winner: Big Cass
WWE Raw Tag Team Championship
30-Minute Iron Man Match
Cesaro and Sheamus (c) vs. The Hardy Boyz
The team with the most falls after 30 minutes wins. Right as the bell rang, Cesaro ran at Matt Hardy, distracting him. Matt turned around and was nailed with a Brogue Kick by Sheamus for a quick pinfall.
Cesaro & Sheamus lead 1-0 with about 29:45 remaining
Cesaro and Sheamus then dominated Jeff Hardy for about 9 minutes. Cesaro jumped off the middle rope and Sheamus hit a backdrop on Jeff Hardy and they picked up another pinfall.
Cesaro & Sheamus lead 2-0 with about 20:00 remaining
Matt Hardy finally came in as the hot man and Jeff hit a Poetry in Motion, Matt hit a Side Effect, and Jeff hit the Twist of Fate on Cesaro for a pinfall.
Cesaro & Sheamus lead 2-1 with about 17:05 remaining
After some more back and forth action, Cesaro and Matt started fighting on the outside until Cesaro threw Matt into the ring post. The referee started counting and counted Matt out for another fall for Cesaro and Sheamus.
Cesaro & Sheamus lead 3-1 with about 13:05 remaining
Cesaro and Sheamus completely dominated Matt for another 6 minutes until he was thrown into the corner for some reason and was able to tag in Jeff. Matt hit a backslide on Cesaro and Jeff ran in and jumped on Cesaro’s legs for the pin.
Cesaro & Sheamus lead 3-2 with about 6:50 remaining
With about 4:00 left, Matt hit a top rope moonsault on Sheamus and went for the tying pinfall, but Cesaro just barely broke it up. Matt then hit a big top rope Twist of Fate on Sheamus for the tying pinfall.
Tied 3-3 with about 2:50 remaining
Matt and Jeff hit a double top rope splash onto Sheamus from opposite corners, but Cesaro broke up the pin. Matt Hardy was busted open on his face. Jeff Hardy hit a Swanton bomb on Sheamus but Cesaro ran in and rolled him up for another fall out of nowhere.
Cesaro & Sheamus lead 4-3 with about 0:29 remaining
Cesaro ran out of the ring and Jeff got up and chased him as time wound down. Cesaro ran back into the ring and Jeff hit a Twist of Fate with about 3 seconds left. He went for the pin, but time ran out before the ref counted to 3…
Winners: Cesaro & Sheamus (4-3)
Matt Hardy had a big gash on his right eyebrow and was making a bunch of “Broken” facial expressions.
WWE Raw Women’s Championship
Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Sasha Banks
A few minutes into the match, as Sasha took control, Alexa pretended that her arm was injured again, showing off her double-jointedness to make it look like her elbow was bent backwards. Sasha looked concerned, but Alexa attacked her to regain control. Sasha almost locked on the Bank Statement, but Alexa rolled out and started walking backstage, screaming, “I don’t need this.” Sasha followed her, but Alexa grabbed Sasha’s legs out from under her and she landed back-first onto the corner of the apron. Alexa then worked on Sasha’s back for a few minutes. Alexa went for a top rope twisting splash, but Sasha got her knees up then locked on the Bank Statement, but Alexa grabbed the ropes and rolled outside. Sasha followed her and threw her into the barricade, then back into the ring. Alexa then rolled out of the ring again and rested there. Sasha went to grab her again, but Alexa slapped her in the face. The ref continued his count and reached 10 and Alexa was counted out…
Winner by count out: Sasha Banks
Alexa grabbed her title and started walking down the aisle triumphantly until an angry and disappointed Sasha Banks followed her and attacked her. They fought on the ramp and down to the announce table. Alexa went for a DDT on Sasha on top of the table, but Sasha blocked it and pushed her off, then hit Alexa with a double knee from the top of the table.
WWE Intercontinental Championship
The Miz (c) vs. Dean Ambrose
The Miz was accompanied by Maryse, Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, who are being called “The Miztourage.” Ambrose immediately ran out and attacked Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel. This was another very basic Ambrose/Miz match… Miz controlled most of it and they did another “knee injury” thing, where Miz worked on Ambrose’s knee for most of the match. Ambrose finally regained control but Maryse got on the apron and distracted the ref. Ambrose went for his off the ropes clothesline thing, but Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel pulled him out of the ring. However, he made quick work of them since they are basically just the Singh Brothers now. Back in the ring, Ambrose hit Dirty Deeds, but Maryse put Miz’s foot on the rope to break the pinfall. Axel got on the apron and Ambrose tossed him in the ring. While the ref was distracted with Axel, Bo Dallas got up on the apron and nailed Ambrose with a punch to the head. Miz hit the Skull Crushing Finale and picked up the win.
Winner: The Miz
Ambulance Match
Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman
An ambulance was backed up next to the entranceway. The only way to win is to put your opponent into the ambulance and close the door. Strowman dominated early, working on Roman’s previously “injured” ribs. Strowman nailed Reigns with the steel steps on the outside. After about 10 minutes of domination, Strowman started carrying Reigns down the entranceway to the ambulance, but Reigns wriggled free, angering Strowman. Strowman ran at Roman in the corner, but he moved, sending Strowman into the post. Reigns then slammed Strowman’s surgically repaired elbow into the post several times, then nailed him with a steel chair into the elbow several times, but it just angered Strowman, who no-sold the chair shots and regained control over Reigns.
Strowman brought Reigns down the entrance ramp and went to powerbomb him onto the announce table, but Reigns broke free and hit a punch… Strowman grabbed him and tossed him into the side of the ambulance, then opened the back door and dragged Reigns towards it, but Reigns fought him off. Reigns then hit a Superman Punch… and another. He tried pushing Strowman into the ambulance, but Strowman grabbed a back/stretcher board and slammed it down on Reigns. Strowman picked up Reigns for a powerslam but Reigns broke free and pushed Strowman right through the LED wall near the entrance, breaking through an entire panel.
Reigns tried to drag Strowman to the ambulance, but Strowman shoved him down. Reigns hit Strowman with a light he grabbed off the floor, then went for a spear but Strowman moved out of the way and Reigns dived right into the ambulance. Strowman closed the doors and won the match.
Winner: Braun Strowman
Reigns got out of the ambulance and hit Strowman with a spear, then threw him into the back of the ambulance. He then got into the ambulance and started to drive away, but stopped in a parking lot… Suddenly, he started to reverse at high speed and slammed the ambulance into the back of a parked truck. A banged up Reigns stepped out and walked away. Suddenly, Kurt Angle appeared with a bunch of referees and other officials. Angle looked angry and confused. An official desperately tried to open the ambulance door with a crowbar, but couldn’t open it.
Curt Hawkins vs. Heath Slater / Backstage: Braun Strowman
Curt Hawkins’ theme music hit and he came out to the ring while all the Strowman stuff was still going on on a split screen… Then Heath Slater came out and I guess they are going to have a match now… wtf. OK… Heath locked on a sleeper hold… Like 2 minutes into the match, sirens hit and they cut to the fire department arriving to try to get Strowman out of the ambulance. The bell rang off screen and the ring announcer announced that Heath Slater won the match while the camera was on the ambulance… The commentary team didn’t even mention what the finish of the match was…
Winner: Heath Slater
The fire department used a chainsaw and “the jaws of life” to finally open the ambulance door, then they tried to put Strowman on a stretcher, but he stumbled out on his own. There was blood on his elbow, arms, and face. He stumbled onto a white bus and smeared blood all over the side of it. Medical staff shouted at him to stay down, but he wouldn’t and he walked off under his own power as Kurt Angle stared at him, shocked.
WWE Universal Championship
Brock Lesnar (c) vs. Samoa Joe
Paul Heyman started to announce Brock Lesnar with his usual schtick, but before he could finish, Samoa Joe attacked Lesnar from behind, then took him outside and threw him through the Spanish announce table. The match didn’t even officially start. Lesnar crawled back into the ring as the crowd chanted “Joe is gonna kill you.” The bell rang and Joe attacked Lesnar with a flurry of offense. Lesnar tried to fight back but Joe muscled him into the corner and went to work on him. “Big fight” feel to this match.
Lesnar tried to fight back again, but Joe went for the Coquina Clutch, but didn’t lock all of it on because Lesnar had his hands blocking it. Lesnar grabbed the ropes, then turned around and hit Samoa Joe with a German supex. And another, and a third. Lesnar grabbed Joe for another, but Joe grabbed the ref’s head and hit a mule kick low blow on Lesnar, knocking him down. Joe tried to lock on the Coquina Clutch again, but Lesnar fought it off… until Joe got it locked on. Lesnar started to turn red, but he was able to get up and drop Samoa Joe down on his back.
Lesnar then hit another German suplex out of nowhere, and a second and a third. Lesnar went for the F5, but Joe broke free and locked on the Coquina Clutch again. Lesnar fell down to his knees and was fading, his face turning purple. Heyman screamed at Lesnar to get up, and he did, suddenly lifting Joe up and nailing him with an F5! 1, 2, 3.
Winner: Brock Lesnar
Lesnar’s entire body was extremely red/pink and sweaty as he walked down the aisle with his Universal title.
