NJPW G1 News and Notes

New Japan Pro Wrestling announced the first night of this year’s G1 Climax tournament will be shown live for free on NJPW World on July 17th. The first show will feature Tetsuya Naito vs. Kota Ibushi and Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Zack Sabre Jr. as the headline matches.

AXS TV recently announced they will replay the G1 Special in the United States this Friday at 4:30 PM EST. A replay of the second night’s show will follow afterwards and be the first time shown on AXS TV.


New Batch of Content for the WWE Network

Besides the previously announced content arriving this month, WWE will add two new collection sets to the WWE during this month. Both a Piper’s Pit collection and a Razor Ramon collection will be arriving on July 10th.

In terms of the Madison Square Garden “Old School” series, a new show from October 24, 1977 was recently added to the Network. The card for the event was the following:
*Larry Zbyzsko vs. Johnny Rodz.
*Tony Garea vs. Baron Mikel Scicluna.
*Larry Sharpe vs. Johnny Rivera.
*Butcher Vachon vs. Lenny Hurst.
*Kitty Adams & Leilani Kai vs. Wenona Little Heart & Vivian St. John in Leilani Kai’s MSG match.
*WWWF World Champion Superstar Billy Graham vs. Dusty Rhodes in a Texas Death Match.
*Mil Mascaras vs. Jack Evans.
*WWWF Tag Team Champions Prof. Toru Tanaka & Mr. Fuji (with Freddie Blassie) vs. Peter Maivia & Chief Jay Strongbow in a Best of Three Falls match.
*Ivan Putski vs. Stan Stasiak.


DeAngelo Williams Deal with Impact/GFW was a One Time Only Appearance

During a recent interview with ESPN, DeAngelo Williams stated his deal with Impact/GFW was for only one event which was Slammiversary XV. He also announced his retirement from wrestling in order to continue focusing on his NFL career instead.
