As reported earlier, WWE released their financial report for the fiscal second quarter today. Among the details included the WWE Network currently has around 1.6 million subscribers and overall quarter revenue being the highest ever in WWE history.
Some other details from both the report and investor’s meeting held includes the Network’s subscriber base drop from 1.9 million to 1.6 million being the largest quarterly drop in WWE Network history. Unlike with past financial reports, the WWE did not reveal the split between paid and free subscribers.
The Observer’s Dave Meltzer revealed the main reason WWE was able to post a net profit for the quarter was due to less spending being done on the Network and the recent cuts done to production. Also stated the reason live attendance numbers are higher on average is due to the WWE running more pay-per-view events compared to last year’s fiscal quarter.
In regards to the investor’s meeting, WWE praised their women’s division for generating some of the highest weekly ratings and viewership segments for both RAW and Smackdown. Vince praised both the division and Triple H for the hard work done to make this possible.
When asked a question about the status of their United Kingdom show on the Network, WWE’s George Barrios stated they currently have no plans to resume tapings for the show but doesn’t mean the show itself has been canceled.
When asked a question about the future of RAW and/or Smackdown being on Facebook instead of television, WWE’s George Barrios revealed they are currently working on strengthening their revenue streams from social media platforms. As has been the case since the debut of RAW, television fees still make up the vast bulk of revenues earned by the WWE.
