WWE has been trying to work out a deal with Impact Wrestling to bring back the “Broken Hardys” gimmick. Impact has apparently demanded royalties if the gimmick is used, so speculation has been that WWE will either do that or just “buy” the rights to the gimmick outright. However, the matter of who actually owns the gimmick is still up in the air, with Matt Hardy claiming that he created it, so does Impact even have the right to sell Matt’s gimmick? And would it be right for WWE to then “own” a gimmick that Matt created?
There has been a rumor going around in the past day that WWE has actually bought the rights to the gimmick from Impact. Reby Hardy went on Twitter saying there is absolutely no truth to the rumor and the fact that it’s even a rumor is “such a joke.”
@RebyHardy Is there any truth to the rumor wwe purchased the broken rights from tna? Notwithstanding that tna had no real ownership #fuckthatowl

@VileDelinquet 99% sure it was "leaked" to stooge writers from Jarrett in an attempt to make TNA look like it's in a position of power (LOL)
