Jim Ross was interviewed by ESPN and seemed to pretty much confirm that he will be calling a match at WrestleMania. It was previously reported that he has signed a deal with WWE and will be the commentator for one match at WrestleMania (rumored to be Undertaker vs. Reigns or Goldberg vs. Lesnar).
ESPN: What will it be like to come home again?
JR: “I would think we’ll know when it happens. I think it has a good chance of happening, but we’ll certainly know how it’s going to feel… I want to believe, and I have no reason to not believe that it’s going to feel good. I’ve seen my friends here and they’re my extended family. 21 years in the company. I’d like to think that Jan and I had a small part in helping kinda retool the new publicly traded WWE after staving off bankruptcy and some bad financial problems that we all battled through. But it would be very cathartic. If I had to give one word, I would say it would be very cathartic.
“She wanted to go shopping and wear her good dress on the red carpet and she wanted to see the crowd reaction if I got to come down and call a match. So we can’t do anything about the Hall of Fame and red carpet but maybe we can do something about the other.”
JR also had other things to say about his late wife Jan:
“She and I talked about this weekend, or started talking about it a long time ago. Obviously she knew I had the [WrestleCon] show here today and Sunday. She was excited about the potential of me rejoining WWE. She always believed that was our home. She had great friends and relationships from Vince and Linda on down. They loved her. Especially Linda. Linda McMahon was one of my wife’s big heroes.
Jan had done ample shopping because we had been invited to go to the Hall of Fame so we could walk the red carpet. She was really, really excited about that. And then her other wish was to see me get introduced.”
