In-Ring Segment: AJ Styles and Shane McMahon

SmackDown LIVE kicks off with a contract signing between AJ Styles and Shane McMahon. Daniel Bryan is in the ring, which is covered in an appropriately blue mat. Shane said AJ was good but his ego had gotten out of control and it was job to put in check. Shane said he would beat AJ at WrestleMania and the crowd booed. Shane then signed the contract. AJ warned Shane that this wasn’t a gimmick match where he could hang outside of the ring for more than ten seconds or use a table, ladder or chair, this was a wrestling match. AJ said Shane has never been in the ring with someone like AJ and at WrestleMania Shane would find out just how phenomenal AJ was. AJ signed the contract and got in Shane’s face. Daniel Bryan said they need to shake hands but AJ left the ring and headed to the back.

OPINION: AJ came across really well here. He might be the best overall promo guy in the WWE, even if he doesn’t have the put-downs of a Kevin Owens, John Cena or HHH.

Becky Lynch vs. Carmella

Mickie James and Alexa were on commentary for this bout. The SmackDown LIVE Women’s Title will be defended on the WrestleMania Kick-Off show this Sunday. James Ellsworth, who was wearing a WrestleMania jersey, introduced Carmella with a heel promo. Shortly after the match started Alexa and Mickie started fighting and rolled inside the ring leading to all four women brawling and a double-dq. The show went to commercial.

OPINION: Mickie and Alexa were not annoying on commentary like wrestlers usually are. It sucks the SmackDown Women’s match is on the Pre-Show when it will likely be better than the Raw Women’s Match.

Becky Lynch and Mickie James vs. Carmella and Alexa Bliss

Oh, apparently during the commercial Daniel Bryan made this a “Tag Team Match, Playa”. The ladies battled briefly and then Natalya’s music hit. The announcers wondered what was going on so naturally the show went to a commercial instead of letting us directly find out. When they came back Natalya was on commentary. James Ellsworth interfered, letting Carmella pin Becky. Everyone brawled and then Naomi’s music hit and she ran down and cleared the ring. Naomi cut a promo and said she would be in the match this Sunday. They turned off the lights and Naomi danced in the ring in her reflecting clothing. The crowd popped big for her.

Backstage: Daniel Bryan, Tyler Breeze and Fandango

Tyler Breeze was still dressed as Nikki Bella and tried to get Daniel Bryan to add him to the Women’s match. Bryan pulled off Breeze’s wig as Fandango walked up. Daniel Bryan said Breeze and Fandango would get the final two spots in the Andre The Giant Battle Royal this Sunday.

In-Ring Segment: The Miz, Maryse, John Cena, Nikki Bella

Miz and Maryse came out for another episode of Miz TV to a good pop. They aired more footage of Miz and Maryse as Cena/Nikki/Brie but Miz also played DBry, who wore a bib and walked on his knees. Nikki proposed to Cena but then the show went to another commercial break. UGH.

Let’s just say this segment was amazing.

OPINION: There are 5 SmackDown matches at WrestleMania and the battle royal. Assuming there is an Ambrose/Corbin segment coming up, there will prob be 6 coinciding segments tonight to build each match. RAW didn’t have that.

Snickers Commercial: Enzo, Cass, Becky Lynch

10 Man Tag Match
Usos, Breezango, Dolph Ziggler vs. American Alpha, Heath Slater & Rhyno, Mojo Rawley

All ten wrestlers will be in the Andre Battle Royal this Sunday. Mojo Rawley pinned Tyler Breeze to score the win for his team.

No Dean Ambrose/Baron Corbin. Main-Event is up next!

Luke Harper vs. Bray Wyatt

Bray pinned Harper following a Sister Abigail from “Outta Nowhere”. Orton appeared on the Tron after the match from the Wyatt Compound. Orton drove a stake thru the ground there and said “Bray I am coming for you at WrestleMania” to end SmackDownLIVE!
