WWE has officially offered a contract to Matt and Jeff Hardy, according to Pro Wrestling Sheet. The Hardys have not officially signed yet, but things seem inevitable. The sides have been in talks since at least a month ago.
The issue remains, of course, of whether or not the Hardys will be able to use their current “Broken” gimmick, catch phrases, etc. Impact is claiming they have ownership and is apparently now seeking royalties from the Hardys, which Reby Hardy called “laughable.” WWE has no doubt been looking into the situation and if they feel that it probably won’t be resolved for a while, WWE will probably drop the gimmick. Another option is obviously to modify the gimmick enough that they’re able to “work around” the legal issues.
The Hardys are signed to a short-term deal with ROH right now and will likely drop the Tag Team titles at the Supercard of Honor show on April 1.
Matt Hardy Comments on Impact
Matt Hardy went on Twitter today and defended that the “#BROKEN Universe is [his] PROPERTY.”
