Eric Bischoff discussed Dolph Zigger’s match with Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam on his latest Bischoff on Wrestling podcast, which you can listen to below. Bischoff said he’s looking forward to seeing the match and had a lot of praise for the challenger.
“I just dig Dolph Ziggler,” he said. “Never met him. Never shook his hand. Never had a beer with him. Anything. I follow him on Twitter. I watch his stuff on television. I’m aware of his background. He’s just, to me, kind of like a 360° performer. Meaning he just covers all the bases. He’s entertaining as hell. He’s quick witted. He gives great promos. Clearly he’s physically gifted. He understands the art. This is almost hard to explain because it’s almost an abstract feeling. To me, he gets it. He just gets it. I’d love to see a guy like that get an opportunity. I think we’ve only seen the tip of the iceberg with a guy like Dolph Ziggler. Nothing against Dean Ambrose. They both had great promos on Smackdown. It created a sense of stakes. Which I think is a thing that is severely lacking. Anyone who has ever worked with me in creative knows that I believe strongly… like, I’ll fight over it, I’ll draw blood over it… I believe strongly in a three act structure. You need to have a beginning, a middle and an end. You have to craft it in a way that is entertaining but you also have to have stakes that are believable and relatable. What I took away from those promos they did this past Tuesday is that there is a mutual respect there but the stakes have transitioned from just being about the title to kind of the politics within the business. Which is believable. It’s relatable.”
