Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman Kick Off RAW
The Monday, June 22, 2015 edition of WWE RAW kicks off with The Beast Incarnate himself, along with his advocate, as Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are in the ring.
Heyman, as Lesnar’s typical spokesperson, addresses what transpired last week when the duo returned to WWE RAW.
From there, Heyman turns his attention to the announce team, where Lesnar exits the ring to head to. Lesnar starts with JBL. He shakes JBL’s hand. Now he turns his focus to Michael Cole.
Lesnar approaches an apprehensive Cole, who has his head down in shame and fear. Lesnar extends his hand to Cole. Lesnar grabs Cole in a headlock and gives him a noogie. He sits Cole down and pats his head like a dog as the fans cheer wildly, before Lesnar re-enters the ring.
Heyman says that after what Lesnar just did with the announcers, his client has fulfilled the terms of his return, which was to apologize to them. Heyman says on their behalf that they accept Lesnar’s apology.
From there, Heyman turns his attention to Lesnar’s next victim — WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Heyman goes on to talk about some of Rollins’ accomplishments, including sneaking his way into becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion by cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase during Lesnar’s match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
Heyman warns Rollins that he has an all-expense paid, one-way ticket to “Suplex City …bitch!” The crowd pops huge for that. Heyman says the WWE Universe is dieing for someone to beat Rollins. Heyman promises that Lesnar will do exactly that.
Lesnar’s music hits as he and his advocate — Heyman — exit the ring and head up the ramp and to the backstage area. On that note, we head to our first mid-match commercial break of the evening.
Dean Ambrose vs. Kane
When we return from our first commercial break of the evening, “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose makes his way out to the ring. Out next is his opponent in this one-on-one contest, Kane.
The bells sounds and here we go with our first match of the evening. Early on, the bigger and stronger Kane uses his power to dominate the former Shield member until eventually the speed game becomes a factor and “The Lunatic Fringe” takes over control of the offense.
Ambrose knocks Kane out to the floor and once back in the ring, hits a big leg-drop off the top rope while Kane is hanging over the middle rope, ala Rampage being knocked out by Wanderlei Silva in their second PRIDE fight. MY apologies for the non-universal reference.
“The Lunatic Fringe” continues to go to work on the big red monster as we head to a mid-match commercial break.
We’re back from the break and while Ambrose is still delivering some offensive punishment, it doesn’t take long before Kane takes control of the action.
Kane delivers some additional punishment until Ambrose starts taking over control of the match. As Ambrose sets Kane up for his “Dirty Deeds” finishing move, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’ theme music hits to cause the distraction to Ambrose.
Ultimately, this leads to Kane hitting Ambrose with a chokeslam. 1-2-3. Kane wins. After the match, we head to our next commercial break of the evening.
Winner: Kane
Backstage: Kane & Seth Rollins
Backstage, Seth Rollins catches up to Kane, who he just helped win by causing the distraction for Ambrose. He tells them they work well together and they should get the band back together. Kane says Rollins is just sucking up to him because Brock Lesnar is back and he needs Kane’s help.
Roman Reigns-Bray Wyatt Feud Recap
After we see highlights of the recent happenings between Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns, including clips from RAW and SmackDown last week, we return live on RAW where Michael Cole promotes Roman Reigns vs. Bray Wyatt for the upcoming WWE Battleground pay-per-view.
The Prime Time Players vs. The Ascension
After the Reigns-Wyatt video package, the WWE Tag-Team Champions, The Prime Time Players — Titus O’Neil and Darren Young — make their way to the ring. Cole informs us on commentary that The Prime Time Players will be in action next on RAW. With that said, we head to another commercial break.
We’re back from the commercial and the PTP’s opponents — The Ascension — are out for our next tag-team contest of the evening. Prior to the start of the match, we see highlights of Titus O’Neil winning the “Father of the Year” award.
Back in the ring, The Ascension remains in control of the offense against the WWE Tag-Team Champions. Meanwhile, we see the former WWE Tag-Team Champions — The New Day — watching the action from a monitor backstage.
Finally, O’Neil and Young start making their comeback. Young ends up hitting his finishing move on one of The Ascension members and scores the pinfall, picking up the victory for the PTP. Backstage, we see The New Day watching from the monitors still.
Winners: The Prime Time Players
Sheamus vs. Roman Reigns
As soon as the tag match concludes, before The Prime Time Players or The Ascension can even leave the ring, “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus’ theme music hits. Out comes “Mr. Money In The Bank.”
Sheamus will be in one-on-one action against Roman Reigns next here on WWE Monday Night RAW. On that note, we head to another commercial break.
When we return from the break, Roman Reigns’ theme music hits and as usual, he makes his way down to the ring through the crowd.
The bell sounds and here we go. Early on, Reigns gets in some offense, but it isn’t long before Mr. Money In The Bank takes over the match. Sheamus is dominating Reigns now as we head to a mid-match commercial.
We’re back from commercial and the first thing we see is Reigns trying to fight back until out of nowhere, Sheamus hits a huge counter-clothesline that sends Reigns crashing out to the floor outside the ring.
On the floor, Sheamus slams Reigns into the barricade near the timekeepers area. Sheamus rolls Reigns back into the ring and continues to deliver punishment to the former Shield member.
As the action continues and Reigns finally starts to fight his way back into the contest, suddenly, we see Roman Reigns appear on the titan tron with a bunch of candles having a tea party with someone off-camera.
I’m guessing we’re supposed to think it’s his kid, however when the camera pans to the side, we see an empty rocking chair rocking back-and-forth. On that note we head to a commercial.
I would assume that means Reigns-Sheamus ends in a no contest, or that Sheamus wins by count-out, as no official ruling was announced.
Winner via Count Out: Sheamus
Backstage: Roman Reigns Searches For Bray Wyatt
When we return from the break, after a quick recap of seeing Wyatt having a candle-lit tea party with no one, which led to Reigns leaving to the backstage area in the middle of his match with Sheamus, we shoot live where we see Reigns looking for Wyatt.
Finally, Reigns enters the room that Wyatt was apparently in. It was a dark room lit up with candles and a little tea party set up, along with pictures all over the wall and red writing on the wall that said, “Anyone But Him.” The whole time Reigns is in the room, by the way, we hear Wyatt off-camera somewhere in the background singing, “I’m a little tea-pot, short and stout ….”
Backstage: Seth Rollins & J&J Security
Backstage, we see Seth Rollins and J&J Security at the coffee machine. Rollins tells the two to chill out and get over it. J&J Security, still upset, run down some of the disrespectful things Rollins has done and said to them over the last several months.
Rollins plays to their softer side, saying they are more than just his security, they are his friends — and he needs them. He says he doesn’t need help with Brock Lesnar, which he makes it clear, he says he does need them to make sure — as his security — that they help at least get him to Battleground.
Rollins extends his hand for a hand shake and asks if they are cool or not. J&J Security ignore his hand shake offer and simply walk off as Rollins looks upset.
Neville vs. Kofi Kingston
After the multiple backstage segments, we head back live inside the arena where Neville’s theme music plays. Out comes “The Man That Gravity Forgot,” who will be in action — next. On that note, we head to another commercial break.
We’re back from the break and out comes The New Day to their typical ring entrance. It looks like it will be Kofi Kingston representing The New Day against Neville in one-on-one action.
The bell sounds and here we go. Early on, Neville is controlling the action with lots of kicks and a big suplex. The action ends up on the floor where Big E. and Xavier Woods get involved until The Prime Time Players come out to even out the numbers game.
Ultimately, both The New Day (excluding Kingston, who is in the match) and The Prime Time Players are sent to the back so that the one-on-one action can continue under fair circumstances.
While Kingston argues with the referee, Neville knocks him down and climbs up to the top rope. The former NXT Champion hits his spectacular Red Arrow finisher. 1-2-3. Neville wins.
Winner: Neville
King Barrett vs. Zack Ryder
Next up on WWE Monday Night RAW is another singles match. Out comes the royal one himself, King Barrett, while Zack Ryder is already in the ring awaiting him.
The bell rings and this one is officially underway. Prior to the start of the match, we see King What’s Up (R-Truth dressed up like a king) in a pre-recorded interview from backstage that was shown via split-screen while the Barrett-Ryder match began in the ring.
Ryder actually gets in some offense in the early goings, however Barrett eventually cuts his efforts short by leveling him with a monsterous clothesline.
Out of nowhere, Ryder nearly nails the King with a Broski Boot, however Barrett avoids it. Ryder goes to the top rope, but Barrett crotches him and follows up by blasting him with a King Bull Hammer Elbow. 1-2-3. King Barrett picks up the win.
Winner: King Barrett
John Cena And Kevin Owens Promo Segment
After a commercial break, we come back and we hear the theme music of the current WWE United States Champion — John Cena. Cena gets his usual mixed-bag reaction, with some of the fans cheering, and most of them boo’ing.
Cena talks about Kevin Owens and how Owens thinks he disrespected him by telling him he belongs in the WWE.
Owens finally hears enough. His music plays and out comes the NXT Champion, who chooses to remain at the top of the stage with a microphone. Owens talks about how he wants the WWE United States Championship if he beats John Cena.
Owens says something in a different langauge. He asks Cena “what do you say, buddy? assuming that he’s tricking him into accepting a stipulation he doesn’t understand. Cena responds by saying something in the same language back to him. Then he says it again in Chinse. Finally, he says it in English.
Cena says at Battleground, if you want a fight, you got it, I accept. He says his final message anyone in the world will understand — I will kick your ass. He yells “The Champ Is Here!” as he raises his U.S. title proudly as his theme plays to end the segment.
Backstage: Seth Rollins & The Authority
We head backstage where WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins approaches Triple H and Stephanie McMahon — The Authority. Rollins basically sucks up to HHH and Stephanie. HHH tells Rollins to cut the crap. He says he wants J&J Security back because Brock Lesnar is back.
HHH says Lesnar is back because they believe in Rollins and believe he can beat him, but he’s scared. He says he should be scared, but a real champion should always fight. He says a smart man will always figure out a Plan B, a backup plan. He says a smart man — like you — walks down to that ring and apologizes.
He says three little words can make this all go away. He tells him to go say — I …Am …Sorry. Rollins asks what if Lesnar shows up. HHH asks him, as he pats him on the shoulder where the title is draped across, how bad he wants “this family.” We head to another commercial break.
The Bella Twins (with Alicia Fox) vs. Naomi & Tamina
When we return from the break, The Bella Twins music hits and out comes Nikki Bella, Brie Bella and Alicia Fox. Highlights are shown from last week’s SmackDown that shows why Alicia Fox is now aligned with The Bella Twins.
After the SmackDown video package, we return live to RAW where it’s time for Divas tag-team action. The Bella Twins will be taking on Naomi and Tamina.
The bell sounds and here we go. Naomi and Brie Bella kick things off for their respective teams. Naomi immediately goes to work on Brie in the corner and tags in Tamina.
Tamina comes in and picks up where Naomi left off, taking it to Brie. Eventually, Naomi hits the Rear View on one of the Bellas, however the finish saw Nikki hit the Rack Attack on Naomi for the 1-2-3.
Winners: The Bella Twins
Terminator: Genysis Promotion
An extended trailer with WWE clips focusing on Roman Reigns airs to promote the new Terminator: Genysis film, the same movie that Triple H’s ring entrance at WrestleMania 31 was inspired by.
Backstage: Paul Heyman & Brock Lesnar
After the Terminator movie plug, we see Paul Heyman talking to Brock Lesnar backstage as Michael Cole emphasizes on commentary that Lesnar is still here, indicating that he will likely get involved again later on this evening.
Mark Henry vs. Ryback
Up next is a battle of big guys as out comes Mark Henry for one-on-one action. Out next is the current WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback.
The bell sounds and here we go with our next singles contest here on WWE Monday Night RAW. Big Show is on commentary during this match. For the most part. Big Show talks about the triple threat match between he, Ryback and The Miz at Battleground, basically talking like Miz was a joke who didn’t stand a chance.
In the end, Ryback hit a Meathook clothesline and then a big spot off the top rope for the 1-2-3. After the match, Big Show comes in the ring and gets in Henry’s face. He knocks him down and walks off pissed off.
Winner: Ryback
Dolph Ziggler (with Lana) vs. Adam Rose (with Rosa Mendes)
Out next is the live triangle portion of RAW, as Adam Rose, accompanied by Rosa Mendes, will be taking on Dolph Ziggler, accompanied by Lana.
This one doesn’t last long, as in the end, Ziggler blasts Rose with a Super Kick and covers him for the 1-2-3.
After the match, Ziggler and Lana make out in the ring as we see Rusev watching on a monitor backstage while he stands on crutches.
He flips out, falls down and then we see a pair of long, sexy legs. As it turns out, it was Summer Rae, who helps Rusev by handing him his crutch, smiling, and walking off.
Winner: Dolph Ziggler
Backstage: The Authority Talk About Seth Rollins
Backstage, Kane and J&J Security are complaining to Triple H and Stephanie McMahon about Seth Rollins.
HHH and Stephanie can relate to what they are saying, but they remind them that The Authority has made a sizable investment in Seth Rollins as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the future of the company.
We head to another commercial break after this brief backstage segment.
Seth Rollins & The Authority Reunite, Beat Down Brock Lesnar
He says he came out here tonight to be the bigger man and apologize. He asks Kane, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble to please come out here because he wants to apologize to each one of them individually.
Kane’s theme music hits and out he comes accompanied by Mercury and Noble.
Rollins talks about their individual history with each guy. He goes on to say he still thinks he can beat Brock Lesnar, because he knows he can — as he’s beaten him before.
The WWE World Heavyweight Champion goes on to sincerely apologize to both Mercury and Noble, individually and collectively and tells them he would be honored for them to be a part of his family again.
He tells J&J Security to think it over while he talks to Kane. He tells Kane that out of everyone in the ring he owes him an apology the most. The fans cut Rollins off with a “Justin Bieber” chant. Rollins tells Kane that he’s his favorite WWE Superstar of all-time.
He extends the same apology to Kane that he just did to J&J Security and asks them to please join him in becoming a family again.
Before the trio can accept or decline Rollins’ apology, Brock Lesnar’s theme hits and out he comes with Paul Heyman. Lesnar and Heyman enter the ring, where all four guys are standing.
Kane and J&J Security decide to exit the ring, leaving the announcers to speculate that Rollins just got his answer regarding his apology. As Lesnar goes to confront Rollins, however, Kane jumps Lesnar from behind.
Lesnar ends up fighting off Kane, but now J&J Security gets involved. Lesnar starts taking them out now as well, however the numbers game is eventually too much for Lesnar.
Rollins joins in on the four-way beatdown now, as he, Kane and J&J Security are all ganging up on Lesnar and beating himdown while Heyman looks on in disbelief outside the ring.
Kane finally grabs Lesnar and hoists him up for one more chokeslam. Rollins, Kane and J&J Security stand proudly over a fallen and beaten down Beast Incarnate. Rollins orders the guys to pick Lesnar back up. They do and then they hand him off to Rollins.
Rollins hits Lesnar with a Pedigree. He rolls him around to his back and stands over him, posing with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as his music plays. That will end this week’s edition of WWE Monday Night RAW.
