UPDATE: As previously reported, TNA has reportedly cancelled their planned tour of China. While the tour was never officially announced, it was considered to be “a lock” at the time. The cancellation was due to the fact that potential tour promoter did not make good on the financial end of the deal.
According to sources, talent is not happy about the cancellation because it was supposed to begin in two weeks and they only found out a few days ago. Talent had been told to set those dates aside and now they are scrambling to find indy dates for that period.
Some within TNA told friends that they believe the company is “all but dead” when they found out about the tour cancellation and that several people are putting feelings out to other promotions, but not having much success. The only real options are GFW and ROH, as Lucha Underground is shut down while they await a second season and WWE is not interested in TNA talent, even if they would be willing to go to a tryout camp. WWE is taking nearly all of their new talent from the NXT developmental system now. AAA is also not looking for new regular foreign talent.
A lot of the talent is also said to have found out about Slammiversary’s June 28th date online before hearing about it from the company itself.
ORIIGINAL: The rumored TNA tour of China has been cancelled. TNA did not advertise the dates, but had informed key talent to keep the dates for the tour open.
The potential tour promoter did not make good on the financial end of the deal, which led to the cancellation.
