According to sources, that meeting will be with WWE Executive Vice President of TV Production Kevin Dunn.
Stay tuned as we hear more.
UPDATE: UFC star Wanderlei Silva has confirmed Chael Sonnen’s claims that he has received an offer from WWE to go to WrestleMania. Or at least, that he’s had some kind of contact with WWE. Silva posted the following to his Facebook page:
WWE has denied that they made any invitation to Chael Sonnen, but as previously reported there is said to be a meeting set between them at WrestleMania. Whether this is for an on-air talent position or something else isn’t known.
WWE has responded to the reports, denying that Sonnen’s claim:
“There has been no invitation from WWE for Chael Sonnen to attend WrestleMania.”
ORIGINAL: Current ESPN analyst and former UFC title contender Chael Sonnen noted during a recent appearance on TSN’s “Off The Record” that both he and MMA legend Wanderlei Silva have been invited by WWE to attend their Hall Of Fame induction ceremony during this year’s WrestleMania weekend.
Sonnen told OTR host Michael Landsberg during an appearance this week that he’s unsure if “The Axe Murderer” will accept the invitation to attend, but he will definitely be taking them up on the invitation if they are serious about it.
“I got a call from WWE. They said, ‘Look, we have a Hall of Fame show in March. If you want to come out, we want to talk to you about some stuff.’ They laid out at that.”
Sonnen continued, “If they are buying me a plane ticket and they’re giving me a ticket to the show, I do enjoy that product. I don’t know what we are talking about, but I’ll give you a little bit of a scoop: Wanderlei Silva was also invited. I don’t know if he’s accepted and I don’t know if the two are related, but there you go.”
WrestleMania 31 takes place on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. The WWE Hall Of Fame induction ceremony takes place one day earlier, Saturday, March 28th.
