Jim Ross has posted a new blog entry, here are the highlights…
On His Potential WrestleKingdom Broadcast Partner: For all of you that are asking, I do not make the final decision on who I will be working with on January 4th in Tokyo at Wrestle Kingdom 9. Several of you have made some great suggestions on twitter @JRsBBQ. Whoever it will be will be the best person available and I don’t expect any on air “bickering” to interrupt the matches. The PPV is about the wrestlers and not about the announcing. The talents make the music and the announcers add the lyrics or that’s how I see it. I said that this might be the best, pure wrestling PPV show that I’ve ever broadcast based on what I’ve seen online in my prep work. That question will be better addressed after January 4. I have high expectations for both the in ring product and my work describing it.
On Saturday’s Bellator Event: @Spike TV had to be happy with the look of their Bellator event Saturday night as they went on free tv against @ufc on PPV. Ortiz vs. Bonnar was what it was but the build up via the personal issue storyline was well done. Every fan of any genre or sport can relate to a personal issue ‘hook’ which is why rivalry games are generally always interesting even when h team’s records aren’t stellar.
On Conor McGregor and Ronda Rousey: UFC’s Conor McGregor has money written all over him if he stays healthy and sane. McGregor has the “it” factor that can’t be manufactured. Some will pay to see @TheNotoriousMMA win while many will pay to see him get his ass whipped. It’s all about the green as in CASH. Conor is an Attitude Era guy. We hope to be in LA in 2015 to see @RondaRousey fight. @ufc always treats us wonderfully and my wife and I appreciate it. Ms Rousey is my favorite MMA fighter and if I was WWE I’d figure out a way to book her at WM31 as I suggested right after WM30 was over.
