Seth Rollins, John Cena, Dean Ambrose & The Authority Kick Off RAW
This week’s show, which emanates from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, begins with highlights from last week, focusing primarily on Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.
From there, we shoot live inside the Barclays Center, where Rollins’ theme hits and he immediately storms his way out to the ring in the middle of an obvious temper tantrum. Rollins, clearly complaining, starts off by saying, “you think that’s funny, don’t you?!” The fans in Brooklyn chant “Yes! Yes! Yes!” From there, he says this is the real highlight from last week, which leads to a video being shown of Rollins hitting a Curb Stomp on John Cena onto his Money In The Bank briefcase.
As he continues to talk, out walks Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury to ringside. Off-mic, the two tell something to Rollins in the ring from the floor.
Rollins doesn’t take Noble and Mercury’s advice, so out runs John Cena, who attacks Rollins. Within seconds, however, Rollins slips out of the ring and into the crowd where out of nowhere, Ambrose appears behind him and attacks him in the crowd..
Rollins tries running back out of the crowd and back to ringside, but Cena is waiting for him there. As Cena and Rollins battle on the floor, Ambrose hits a big dive off the barricade, wiping both guys, as well as Noble and Mercury, out. Rollins runs to the backstage area.
Ambrose and Cena are left in the ring. Cena is inside the ring and Ambrose is casually sitting on the ring apron, when The Authority’s theme music hits.
Triple H and Stephanie McMahon walk out and remain on the top of the ramp. Steph says they are not going to let this show turn into chaos. She says they had Noble and Mercury try to come out and warn him, but Rollins’ ego wouldn’t listen.
HHH says it’s clear Ambrose and Cena want the opportunity to get a piece of Seth Rollins. Steph asks the WWE Universe if they would like to see Ambrose and Cena get their hands on Rollins. The fans chant “Yes!” Triple H re-asks them. Agani they chant “Yes!”
He says if they want it, they’ll get it — right in that very ring tonight. He says tonight it will be Ambrose and Cena in that ring against Rollins. And his partner Kane. And their partner Kane, in a handicap match. HHH tells Ambrose and Cena to be careful what they wish for. With that said, The Authority leaves, as Cena and Ambrose look at each other.
Big Show And Rusev Update
Highlights are shown of Big Show apologizing from SmackDown for tearing down the Russian flag. From there, we see a graphic that says “Rusev and Lana Respond Tonight.” Apparently Big Show has been sentenced to “sensitivity training” so his match with Rusev that was scheduled for tonight is no longer happening.
Up Next On RAW …
After that, we see Dolph Ziggler and The Usos talking among each other backstage. As we head to our first commercial break of the evening, the announcers inform us that those three will be in action after the break against the trio of Cesaro, Goldust and Stardust. On that note, we head to commercial.
Cesaro, Goldust & Stardust vs. Dolph Ziggler & The Usos
When we return from commercial, The Dust Brothers are in the middle of their ring entrance. Out next, with his red towel over his head, is Cesaro. From there, the WWE Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler comes out next. Finally, The Usos make their way to the ring and our first match of the evening is now getting underway.
The match begins with Goldust throwing Jimmy Uso shoulder first into the ring steps. Jimmy is hurt. Stardust starts in the ring with Jimmy, who is selling the injury. Jimmy punches away at Stardust, but Stardust knees him. There is a loud “We want Ziggler” chant as Stardust takes Jimmy down with a scoop slam and a stomp. Stardust with a chin lock as he tags in Goldust. Goldust with right hands, but Jimmy fights back.
Goldust takes control and tags in Cesaro. Cesaro hits a big uppercut and he throws Uso into the corner. He hits him with punches, but he misses wildly and Jimmy tags in Jey. Jey with punches and he takes down Cesaro with a cross body. Jey Uso with chops in the corner, but Cesaro with a knee and a big chop of his own. Jey reverses an irish whip into the corner and he hits shades of Rikishi. Cesaro with a knee into the corner and Stardust tags in. The good guys get involved and the action breaks into a brawl. Cesaro tosses Ziggler into the steel steps outside the ring as we head to a mid-match commercial.
When we return from commercial, Stardust is in control of one of the Usos. He tags in Cesaro, who picks up where he left off. Goldust tags in and now he takes over the offensive momentum for the heel team. Uso starts fighting back with punches as the fans are wild for him to tag in Ziggler, who they are chanting for. And he does.
The fans explode as Ziggler takes the hot tag and comes in the ring, flying all over the place, clearing house. When the smoke clears, Ziggler and Cesaro, who is now the legal man for his team, are all that’s left. Ziggler slaps a sleeper-hold on Cesaro. Cesaro slams Ziggler into the corner to break out of it, but misses a follow-up splash in the corner. Ziggler hits a FameAsser for a near fall, but the Dust Brothers break it up. This leads to The Usos hitting a dive on The Dust Brothers on the floor.
Cesaro tries taking advantage by cheap-shotting Ziggler from behind, but The Usos break up that pin attempt. Stardust tags himself in and hits his finisher on Ziggler. He covers him but Ziggler kicks out at two and a half. Ziggler tags Uso in and all three of the babyfaces hit a triple-super kick on Stardust. Uso goes to the top and hits a big splash for the 1-2-3. After the match, we head to commercial.
Winners: Dolph Ziggler & The Usos
Adam Rose, Rosebuds, Kathie Lee & Hoda
When we return from commercial, Justin Roberts introduces Adam Rose, The Rosebuds, Kathie Lee and Hoda. Rose’s theme hits and out they all come. Rose had Kathie Lee and Hoda on each arm as they “party” their way to the ring.
Rose welcomes his guests to RAW. Kathie Lee and Hoda talk about how they’re happy to be at RAW and represent Susan G. Komen Foundation. The fans are boo’ing them like crazy, so Kathie Lee asks what they did wrong. She does a cheap pop, and the two follow up with about 100 more cheap pops. The fans warmed up to the two a tiny bit, but quickly seem to be sick of this already (and they’re just getting started).
They talk about how they have to be calm on their show, but on RAW, they can get crazy. Kathie asks Hoda to do her crazy dance. They turn the music up and Hoda does her “crazy dance.” Hoda breaks a fake bottle over Kathie Lee’s ass. Rose gets back on the mic as the music dies down. He tells them it’s party time and tells them to watch this. He does his stage dive as the music comes back on. Now Kathie Lee and Hoda do the stage dive onto the Rosebuds as well. Well, Hoda did. Kathie chickened out. And now she does it too. Yippee! They all dance and “party” their way back to the back. “What a RAW moment,” says Michael Cole. If you say so!
Another Luke Harper-Focused Wyatt Family Vignette
As they head through the backstage curtain, The Wyatt Family cut-in happens and an elaborate Wyatt Family vignette airs. Bray is doing the talking for it, but a lot of it features Luke Harper being shown pretty prominently, much like last week, but only a bit more this week. After the vignette, we head to another commercial break.
Bo Dallas vs. Mark Henry
We return from commercial to see Bo Dallas kneeling in the ring, in the middle of his ring entrance. We see highlights of what has happened recently between he and Mark Henry. After that, Henry’s theme hits and out he comes.
The bell rings and here we go. Immediately, Henry dominates his smaller opposition. Henry slams and stomps Dallas from one side of the ring to the other.
Finally, the action spills out to the floor where Henry loses his cool. He takes apart the announce table with intentions of putting Dallas through it. He picks him up for the World’s Strongest Slam, but as he hoists him up, Dallas slips out the back door and immediately slides into the ring. Just as he does, the referee’s count reaches ten, so Dallas wins via count out. His music plays as Henry looks on in disbelief. JBL puts over the fact that Dallas has not beaten Henry three times in a row. After the match, we head to another commercial break.
Winner: Bo Dallas
Dean Ambrose & John Cena Continue To Find Reasons Not To Like Each Other
We return from commercial and after some quick hype from the announcers for Friday’s special 15th anniversary of SmackDown, we see highlights of the opening segment of tonight’s show.
This leads to Dean Ambrose coming out in his street clothes. He starts by saying something has really been bothering him, which is John Cena being “up in his space.” He mentions that Cena is his partner tonight, like he was supposed to be last week on SmackDown, which leads to him showing highlights of Cena leaving their match to chase down Seth Rollins in the aisle, leaving Ambrose alone to get beat down by Randy Orton and Kane.
After the video package, Ambrose reminds everyone that he told Cena to not give him a reason not to like him. He asks Cena to come out here so they can work things out. Cena’s theme hits, the crowd in Brooklyn boo’s like crazy, as the leader of the “Cenation” comes out.
The fans in Brooklyn do the thing where they sing “John Cena sucks” to the tune of his theme song.
Cena tries to be sweet and simple, but as he goes to leave, Ambrose stops him by agreeing with him, before saying he doesn’t like him. He says they both don’t like each other and he’s making it clear right now that he has no problem dropping him where he stands and taking on The Authority by himself.
John Cena comes back into the ring and “clues Ambrose in” to the fact that the last time he took on The Authority by himself, they put his head through a pile of cinder blocks. Cena gives Ambrose credit, however, for having guts. Cena tells Ambrose not to give HIM a reason not to like him.
Ambrose pauses for a while and casually says, “I’m kind of hungry.” He pushes his mic into Cena’s chest and says, “good luck tonight!” He leaves. Cena remains in the ring looking confused as to what just happened. The announcers speculate on the fact that Ambrose is leaving Cena high and dry to fend for himself in the handicap match tonight, which they remind us is technically what Cena did to Ambrose during last week’s SmackDown, as shown in the highlights prior to the start of this segment. After all of that wraps up, we head to another commercial.
Dean Ambrose Leaves The Arena
When we return from commercial, we see highlights of how the Ambrose-Cena segment just ended before the break. From there, we shoot to the train station in Brooklyn. We see Ambrose literally hop on the train and through the window, we see him standing in the train as it takes off. So, as promised, Ambrose left to go get a hot dog, leaving Cena high and dry.
Backstage: John Cena & Triple H
From there, we see Cena walking backstage and Triple H stops him. “These kids now-a-days, huh?” says HHH to Cena. Triple H continues to pretty much mock Cena for being alone and then they finally get to the point, which is that HHH is going to make Seth Rollins start off the now 3-on-1 handicap main event later tonight.
Brie Bella vs. Summer Rae
After that, we shoot live to the ring where we see the referee tieing Brie Bella’s arm behind her back. With one arm, Brie Bella is now facing Summer Rae in singles competition.
The bell rings and Summer, as you would expect, is dominating the one-armed Brie Bella. Layla is at ringside chearing on Summer as she beats down Brie, with her one arm. Nikki Bella, by the way, is at the top of the ramp with a microphone, although she has yet to say anything.
Out of nowhere, Brie starts fighting back and blasts Summer with a knee to the face, ala her husband, Daniel Bryan. She wins and the announcers put over the fact that Brie is doing what Nikki couldn’t, which is win handicap matches and matches with one hand tied behind her back. Brie leads the fans in a giant “Yes!” chant as we see Nikki looking all pissed off.
Winner: Brie Bella
Backstage: The Miz, Damien Sandow & Kane
Backstage, we see The Miz and Damien Sandow with Kane. Miz and Sandow are in the same dark outfit with sunglasses. Miz takes his sunglasses off and walks, which leads Sandow to simultaneously do the exact same thing, only he’s not talking out loud, he’s just moving his lips and mimmicking the movements of Miz as Miz talks. Miz pisses Kane off and this leads to Kane giving Miz a match against Sheamus tonight. He tells him he’s got a feeling he’ll be eating a Brogue Kick later.
Tyson Kidd (with Natalya) vs. Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter)
When we return from the break, we see Tyson Kidd and Natalya already in the ring, as the announcers point out that the two are having relationship troubles, as seen on Total Divas.
From there, The Real Americans song plays as Jack Swagger and Zeb Colter make their way to the ring. The bell sounds and here we go. Straight out of the gate, Swagger dominates Kidd with ease. However, once Swagger chases Kidd out to the floor, in typical heel fashion, Kidd puts his wife, Natalya, in front of him, stopping Swagger in his tracks.
As Swagger is distracted by this, Kidd cheap-shots him and takes the offensive control in the match. Kidd tries to high-five his wife, as if to say, “good job,” but she is disgusted by his actions. Regardless, Kidd is now in firm control of the match as the action heads back inside the ring.
Once back in the ring, Kidd continues to control Swagger, but not for long, as within about 30 seconds, Swagger rag-dolls Kidd half-way across the ring and then blasts him with a Swagger Bomb. He goes to follow up with the Patriot Lock, but Kidd avoids it.
Kidd yells at his wife Natalya to get out of the way, as he heads up to the top rope. Swagger, in Kurt Angle fashion, rushes to the top in one quick motion and throws Kidd off. Both guys come down together, but Swagger has a hold of Kidd’s leg. He locks in the Patriot Lock and Kidd taps. Kidd looks at Natalya in disgust, as if his loss just now were her fault.
Winner: Jack Swagger
Edge & Christian Quickly Appear
Backstage, or live via satelitte, wherever, appear. The two plug their WWE Network special, which airs tonight immediately following RAW and focuses on the 15th anniversary of SmackDown. After that quick segment, where they make jokes about “$9.99,” we are informed that Roman Reigns’ promised interview is up next. On that note, we head to commercial break.
Live Via Satelitte: Roman Reigns
After the break, we shoot live to the commentary table where Michael Cole welcomes us, live via satelitte, Roman Reigns.
Cole asks Reigns how he’s doing. He says he’s feeling better, he’s getting his motion back, but he’s bummed because he’d rather be with everyone live right now in Brooklyn. He finishes by saying he’ll be back sooner than later, and you can “believe that.” His segment lasted all of 30 seconds. Something they promoted for a week straight. Okie dokie! After that very brief segment, we head to a commercial break already.
El Torito (with Los Matadores) vs. Mini Gator (Slater Gator)
When we return from commercial, Mini Gator (Hornswoggle) heads to the ring. The bell rings as he and El Torito, his opponent for tonight, circle each other. Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil call for timeouts to give the Mini Gator a pep talk.
He re-enters the ring as Los Matadores try to rally El Torito. Mini Gator crawls towards him as El Torito dodges him. He jumps on his back and holds his mouth shut. He covers him up with a cloth. When Torito lets him up, Heath Slater is gator rolled on accident. “This is Stupid” chants from the crowd as El Torito is irish whipped off the ropes. He comes back to hit mini gator. He hits a moonsault off the top for the 1-2-3. After the match, El Torito and Los Matadores celebrate the victory. We head to commercial.
Winner: El Torito
In-Ring Segment: Rusev, Lana and … THE ROCK!
Rusev and Lana make their way to the ring. Lana cuts a typical Lana-style promo addressing The Big Show. She tells Rusev to follow up, and in broken English, he basically says he’s going to beat up Big Show, etc. He demands Big Show come out. They wait, but nothing happens. Finally (pun intended), THE ROCK’S music hits. And this ain’t no fake-out, FOLKS! The Brahma Bull appears on stage to an enormous reaction from the fans in the Barclays Center.
After a super-long entrance, The Rock finally speaks. He cheap-pops the five burroughs and also references Rusev’s “Moscow Moose Knuckle,” mocking him for wearing his tights up to his nipples. From there, he finally hits the “Finally!” speech, which the fans in Brooklyn ate up with a spoon.
Lana asks The Rock who he thinks he is, coming in here and interrupting the great Rusev. She informs The Rock that he needs to “shut-tup” (not a typo). The Rock says, “and you need to stop dressing like a Soviet Street-Walker!”
Rusev grabs the mic, but is cut off by loud “Rocky! Rocky!” chants. Rusev says, “listen, you American piece of garbage. Leave now, or I will crush you!” The Rock repeats what Rusev said and then informs him that his breath smells like “Chewbacca’s hairy bean-bag.”
Rock goes on to tell Lana that in person, she’s beautiful, gorgeous and stunning. Or as we say here in America, smoking! But it’s too bad that she’s walking around like someone shoved a Smirnoff bottle up her “Putin.” Word-for-word what The Rock said. He questions what Rusev claimed he was going to do. Rusev tries to respond, but Rock cuts him off with a lovely, “it doesn’t matter what you’re going to do!”
The Rock goes on to explain to Rusev and Lana that the fans don’t boo them for being Russian, they boo them for being a couple of international a-holes. The fans chant “a**hole” at the two. Lana gives Rock another warning, which prompts Rusev to take his gold medal off and move closer to The Rock. Rock says like Jay-Z says, “allow me to re-introduce myself.” He does a Rock-rhyme and starts firing away at “The Bulgarian Brute” with punches, knocking him out of the ring.
He challenges Rock to come back into the ring, but he just throws a fit outside the ring on the floor instead. He concludes by saying, “here’s something that needs no translation — if you smell what The Rock is cookin’!” (only he said it in Rock-fashion). Great segment. Really woke up the crowd and really added “electricity” to what has been a “so-so” show thus far tonight. We head to commercial.
Paige & Alicia Fox vs. AJ Lee & Emma
When we return from commercial, Paige comes out with Alicia Fox. WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee is out next. Finally, her partner for tonight, Emma, makes her way to the ring. AJ Lee got a loud ass pop, by the way. Not as loud as The Rock (obviously), but pretty damn loud for a Diva.
AJ and Fox start things off for their respective teams.Lee throws Alicia into Paige on the apron, sending her to the floor. AJ slams Paige into the announcers table and chases her back through the ring. Emma tags in and dances for Alicia. Alicia hits her with a running knee and throws her out to the apron. Emma fights back in with a shoulder and a kick to the face.
Emma hits a near fall on Fox, but no dice. Emma dances around and charges in the corner but Alicia blocks it. Alicia misses in the corner and Emma gets the ropes submission applied. Emma hits the splash in the corner. AJ looks frustrated and wants a tag. AJ drops off the apron and walks away with her title. Emma looks confused. Emma turns around to a kick to the face from Paige. In the end, Paige hits her Rampage finisher on Emma for the 1-2-3. After the match, AJ watches on from the top of the ramp as Fox and Paige mock her.
Winners: Paige & Alicia Fox
Another Wyatt Family Vignette
Immediately after the Divas match, The Wyatt Family cut-in happens, as another Wyatt vignette aired. I didn’t catch most of it, but I overheard some Erick Rowan mentions this time, so maybe this was more Rowan-based, whereas the one earlier tonight was more Luke Harper-based, but I’m not positive (sorry!). We head to another break.
The Miz (with Damien Sandow) vs. Sheamus
As ordered by Kane earlier tonight, out comes The Miz (with Damien Sandow), for his one-on-one match tonight with “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus. The bell rings, Sandow helps Miz with his sunglasses and here we go.
Miz bitch-slaps Sheamus, which doesn’t exactly please him. This leads to a lengthy beatdown of The Miz by Sheamus. The fans out of nowhere start chanting “Damien Mizdow,” clearly showing their support for the entertaining performer who has been grossly underutilized lately. Miz ducks out to the floor as Sheamus tries to continue to punish him. On that note, we head to a mid-match commercial break.
When we return from the break, the action is still going on in the ring, but you wouldn’t know it based on the crowd reactions. They are completely consumed with Damien Sandow at ringside. They are chanting “Sandow’s better” and popping huge anytime he gets physically involved in the match. Anytime he is bumped, including a Brogue Kick at the end of the match from Sheamus, the fans boo very loudly.
That Brogue Kick spot, by the way, led to a quick roll-up from The Miz for the 1-2-3. The announcers, for the record, went WAY out of their way to point out how much more over Sandow is than his own “A-lister.” It seemed pretty obvious that Vince McMahon, or whoever was producing the announcers tonight, was telling them to put over how strongly Sandow was over with the fans in Brooklyn tonight.
Winner: The Miz
Joan Lunden Talks About Breast Cancer
Joan Lunden comes out next to the top of the stage. She talks very seriously about breast cancer and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. She introduces several breast cancer survivors who are in attendance, individually, saying their names and having them stand up and be recognized, one-by-one. When she concludes, John Cena comes out and smiles and gives her a big hug. After the segment, we head to commercial.
Edge & Christian Part Two
Back from the break, Edge and Christian are shown once again. They make some more “$9.99” jokes in references to the WWE Network and give one final plug to their special on the Network, which airs immediately after RAW.
John Cena vs. Randy Orton, Kane & Seth Rollins
From there, we head to our main event of the evening. John Cena’s theme hits and the fans once again immediately start singing “John Cena Sucks!” to the tune of his entrance music. He holds up a “Never Give Up” t-shirt and the fans continue to sing and boo.
After that, Randy Orton’s theme hits and the fans in Brooklyn actually give him quite the babyface reaction. Before Orton even makes it to the ring, Kane’s music hits, as I guess they’re tight for time. Kane makes his way out and then Seth Rollins’ theme hits. Rollins comes out with his Money In The Bank briefcase.
The bell rings and here we go with our main event. As per orders of Triple H earlier in the night, Rollins starts this 3-on-1 handicap match off with Cena. And equally as expected, Rollins tags out to Kane before anything can happen to him.
Kane establishes the offensive control over the leader of the “Cenation” and then tags in Orton. “The Viper” picks up where Kane left off, taking it to Cena. He hits a quick snap-slam, Orton-style, before tagging Kane right back in. Kane makes sure Cena is down and out and finally Rollins asks for the tag.
Rollins comes in and is bouncing around, Shane McMahon in the late-90s style, full of confidence, realizing that Cena is completely at his mercy. He begins his attack and is moving slowly now, taunting Cena and the fans all-the-while.
Cena finally gets in some offense on Rollins, however, immediately Kane and Orton hit the ring. The ref calls for the bell. The heel trio are disqualified.
Winner via DQ: John Cena
After The Match
As Kane chokeslams Cena and Orton waits to blast him with an RKO, out of nowhere, Dean Ambrose’s theme music hits. Ambrose pushes out a hot-dog stand, complete with ketchup, mustard, buns, a big umbrella. The works. What is with the hot dog stuff the past few weeks? HAS to be an inside joke going on within the WWE office. I’ll look into it and update you on the newsboard when/if I find something out.
Ambrose heads to the ring but stops as Orton and Kane are waiting for him at ringside. It’s a standoff. As the three finally meet in the middle, Ambrose throws ketchup and mustard in their faces and hits the ring, finally getting his hands on Rollins.
After all of the smoke clears, the heels run off and Cena and Ambrose are left alone. “King of Kings” plays as Triple H and Stephanie McMahon come out to the top of the stage. They mockingly talk about how nice it is to see the two finally back on the same page.
However, they then inform the two that at the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view, it will be John Cena vs. Dean Ambrose, with the winner not only getting to face Seth Rollins later on at Hell In A Cell, but the winner will get to do so inside a Hell In A Cell. With that said, as Cena goes to leave, Ambrose grabs him and hits him with his finisher as he stands tall and RAW goes off the air!
