The Authority, Kane & Brad Maddox Fired
This week’s show begins with an extensive Memorial Day video package. After that, we shoot live inside the arena and Justin Roberts introduces Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. HHH’s “King of Kings” music plays and out to the ring comes The Authority.
Stephanie begins by welcoming us to a “historic edition of Monday Night Raw.” She says tonight is all about choices. She says Daniel Bryan has the choice tonight to do the right thing and surrender the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The fans break out in “Yes!” chants.
HHH continues by talking about how some people become flash-in-the-pans and some people become legends. He calls Daniel Bryan a flash-in-the-pain. A light “CM Punk” chant breaks out in Knoxville. HHH then goes on to talk about how Evolution are legends and that The Shield won’t be able to stop them at Payback this Sunday.
“The Game” goes on to talk about the contract signing tonight between Evolution and The Shield.
Stephanie takes over and says an issue with RAW General Manager Brad Maddox needs to be addressed. She orders Maddox to come out to the ring. Maddox enters the ring and HHH yells at him for allowing Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns to serve as guest commentators for the Roman Reigns vs. Batista match last week, despite orders from The Authority that no member of The Shield be at ringside. HHH asks Maddox to explain himself.
Maddox says he didn’t want to let The Shield be guest commentators. He says he was forced. Stephanie says she heard Maddox got roughed up by The Shield and understands that he didn’t have a choice. She says he hopes he understands that right now they have no choice.
Kane’s music and fire-pyro explodes and “The Big Red Machine” makes his way to the ring. Stephanie orders Kane to teach him a lesson. Kane obliges and chokeslams Maddox and then Tombstone Piledrivers him. Kane’s fire-pyro explodes again, his music plays, and Kane and The Authority stand over a fallen Maddox.
Stephanie asks for the music to be cut. She says she forgot to mention one thing. She tells Brad Maddox, “you’re fired.” Triple H’s “King of Kings” plays again as The Authority and Kane make their way to the back. We head to our first commercial break of the evening.
Cesaro (with Paul Heyman) vs. Rob Van Dam
When we return from commercial, after a quick “Bo Dallas makes RAW debut tonight” vignette, we see Cesaro and Paul Heyman already standing in the ring. Rob Van Dam is introduced by Justin Roberts, and RVD makes his way to the ring. Out next is Bad News Barrett, who cuts a “Bad News” promo on his way to the ring about Memorial Day and Van Dam losing to him this Sunday at Payback. Barrett joins the commentary team for this match, which is a one-on-one encounter between Van Dam and Cesaro.
The bell rings and here we go. Van Dam gets an early lead, all-the-while Barrett is talking on commentary about how he’s not going to beat him at Payback this Sunday. We head to an early mid-match commercial.
When we return from commercial, Cesaro is in firm control of the match, going for multiple near-falls in a row. We see some highlights of action during the break of Cesaro throwing RVD out to the floor.
Van Dam makes a comeback and hits pretty much all of his RVD-type moves. Barrett appears out of nowhere, leaving commentary to interfere, but Van Dam sees him and kicks him before he can enter the ring. As soon as RVD turns around, however, Cesaro rolls him up for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Cesaro
After The Match: “The Celtic Warrior” Attacks
After the match, Sheamus’ music hits. The WWE United States Champion sprints to the ring and ultimately blasts Cesaro — his opponent for Payback this Sunday — with a Brogue Kick. We head to another commercial.

Winner: Eva Marie
Batista & Randy Orton and Goldust & Cody Rhodes Argue, Triple H Makes A Match
Backstage, we see Randy Orton and Batista talking. In walks Goldust and Cody Rhodes. They say they’re issuing an open challenge to any tag-team tonight. The two teams argue until Triple H comes in and makes a match between the two teams. HHH says this won’t be any ordinary match. We head to commercial.
Drew McIntyre vs. El Torito
When we return from commercial, we see 3MB and Hornswoggle standing in the ring. Out next comes Los Matadores and El Torito. I guess we’ve got Drew McIntyre vs. El Torito in one-on-one action tonight.
The bell rings and here we go. McIntyre takes the early lead, as Torito tries to run away and avoid him. The two do a bunch of comedy spots, most of which results in McIntyre looking stupid.
McIntyre dominates the offense throughout the majority of the match, until Los Matadores distracts him, allowing Torito to pin him for the win. After the match, 3MB and Horny yank Torito’s tail off. We head to commercial.
Winner: El Torito
The Wyatt Family, Jerry Lawler, JBL, John Cena & The Usos
When we return from commercial, The Wyatt Family makes their way to the ring. Bray Wyatt starts off by singing “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands.” Bray goes on to cut a typical Bray-style promo, until he eventually sets his sights on Jerry “The King” Lawler.
Wyatt orders Lawler to get into the ring. Lawler refuses. Wyatt insults JBL, so JBL takes his coat off, stands up and advances at The Wyatt Family. Luke Harper ends up hitting him with a Clothesline From Hell. Lawler is forced to get into the ring. Wyatt makes him sit in a chair in the center of the ring.
Wyatt talks trash to Lawler about him supporting John Cena, ultimately leading to a Cena run-in. Cena battles off Harper and Erick Rowan, but eventually the numbers game is too much. Harper and Rowan beat down Cena and hold him up as Wyatt demands that he watch what he does to his friend (Lawler).
As Harper and Rowan hand Lawler off to Wyatt, The Usos make a run-in to make the save. The Usos and Cena end up cleaning house.
Wyatt, Harper and Rowan stand in the aisle as Cena cuts a promo on Wyatt from the ring, eventually leading to him talking about their showdown this Sunday at WWE Payback, telling Bray that “payback will be a bitch.” Cena’s music hits and that’s it. We head to another commercial break.
Zack Ryder vs. Rusev (with Lana)
When we return from commercial, Zack Ryder’s music hits and he makes his way to the ring. Lana ends up cutting him off and cutting a typical Lana-type promo, ultimately leading to an introduction for Rusev.
The bell rings and here we go. Ryder gets in a couple of punches early on, but Rusev is eventually too much for him and in under a minute, Ryder is tapping out to Rusev’s “Accolade” submission finisher.
Winner: Rusev
After The Match: Big E. Comes To The Rescue
After getting the win, Rusev refuses to let go of the submission hold. Big E. eventually makes a run-in, beating down Rusev and knocking him out of the ring. We head to commercial.
Batista & Randy Orton vs. Goldust & Cody Rhodes
When we return from commercial, Evolution’s music hits. Batista and Randy Orton make their way to the ring for tag-team action. Out next is “The Brotherhood,” Goldust and Cody Rhodes.
The bell rings and here we go. Batista and Rhodes start things off for their respective teams. “The Animal” takes the early lead over Rhodes. He tags in Orton, who picks up where he left off. We head to a mid-match commercial.
When we return from commercial, the Evolution members are firmly in control of Cody Rhodes in the center of the ring. They eventually pin him. Instead of the match being over, it’s revealed that this is an Elimination Match, and that Rhodes must leave, making Goldust remain by himself in the ring with both Batista and Orton.
The announcers remind us that HHH said backstage earlier tonight that this wouldn’t be any ordinary match. The Evolution members take it to Goldust, two-on-one, with ease. Orton blasts him with an RKO. Batista follows up with a Batista-Bomb. 1-2-3. Batista and Orton win. We head to commercial.
Winners: Batista & Randy Orton
Sin Cara vs. Bo Dallas
When we return from commercial, we see Sin Cara standing in the ring. JBL returns to the commentary table after the attack he suffered at the hands of Luke Harper and The Wyatt Family earlier in the show. Out next is Bo Dallas, who is making his RAW debut in a rematch from SmackDown against Sin Cara.
The bell rings and here we go. Dallas gets the upper-hand early on, including executing some high spots from the top-rope to the floor on Sin Cara.
Sin Cara starts fighting back, trying to make his comeback, but Dallas ultumately cuts him off. Dallas hits Sin Cara with his Bo-Dog finisher for the 1-2-3. After the match, Dallas cuts a quick “Bo-Lieve” promo.
Winner: Bo Dallas
Stephanie McMahon Gives Daniel Bryan An Ultimatim
When we return from commercial, Stephanie McMahon is introduced, and she makes her way to the ring. Stephanie talks about Daniel Bryan and the WWE World Heavyweight Championship situation.
Steph introduces Bryan. Bryan comes to the ring and the fans break out in a loud, passionate “Yes!” chant. Bryan talks about the WWE World Heavyweight Championship situation, ultimately refusing to relinquish the belts.
After Bryan refuses, Stephanie gets angry. She shows video of Brie Bella pushing her a few weeks ago and then informs Bryan that at Payback this Sunday, either he surrenders the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, or Brie will be fired. We head to another commercial break.
Alicia Fox vs. Emma
When we return from commercial, Alicia Fox makes her way to the ring as Michael Cole brings us up to speed on what was announced during the RAW pre-show tonight, which is that Fox will be challenging Paige for the WWE Divas Championship at Payback this Sunday. Out next is Emma.
The bell rings and here we go. The announcers babble a bunch about how Fox has gone on a rampage the last few weeks, stealing JBL’s cowboy hat and Jerry Lawler’s crown. Meanwhile, Fox dominates the action in the ring.
Fox bullies Emma into the corner, slaps her in the face a few times, to which Emma responds with a big bitch-slap to Fox of her own. Fox goes to nail her with a big boot, but Emma moves, rolls Fox up and scores the 1-2-3. Emma wins. After the match, Alicia Fox beats up Emma in the ring and then throws another hissy fit outside the ring, ringing the hell out of the bell, smacking around the timekeeper, and a bunch of other stuff.
Winner: Emma
“Davey Crockett” vs. Adam Rose
When we return from commercial, we see Davey Crockett introduced to the ring. Crockett is actually Damien Sandow. Out next, accompanied by his “Rosebuds,” is the anti-lemon, Adam Rose. It’s time for some more one-on-one action here on WWE RAW.
The bell rings and both guys immediately go at it. “Crockett” gets a bit of an upper-hand early on, but Rose ultimately takes over. Out of nowhere, Jack Swagger’s theme music hits. Swagger and Zeb Colter come out and try to distract Rose, but Rose ends up scoring the pin seconds later anyway. After the match, Rose and Swagger have a big, extended brawl. We head to commercial.
Winner: Adam Rose
Sheamus vs. Alberto Del Rio
When we return from commercial, the WWE United States Champion Sheamus is introduced. After some video packages from SmackDown and earlier tonight on RAW, both of which helped recap the ongoing feud between Sheamus and Cesaro, the U.S. champ’s opponent for tonight, Alberto Del Rio, is introduced.
The bell rings and here we go. Sheamus takes the early offensive lead, eventually blasting Del Rio with the ten forearms to the chest spot. We head to a mid-match commercial.
When we return from commercial, Del Rio is firmly in control of the match. We see some highlights from the commercial break, courtesy of the WWE App, that shows Del Rio dominating “The Celtic Warrior.”
Sheamus turns the tide by hitting Del Rio with his White Noise semi-finisher. Del Rio blasts Sheamus with a big kick to the head in response, which later results in Sheamus selling it like he suffered a concussion. Ultimately, however, Sheamus blasts Del Rio with a Brogue Kick for the 1-2-3.
Winner: Sheamus
After The Match: Cesaro Attacks, Heyman Talks Smack
After the victory, Sheamus hears a unique voice announcing his win on the house mic. The camera pans over and we see that it’s Paul Heyman. Heyman, of course, brags about his client breaking The Undertaker’s streak at WrestleMania. He continues to babble, distracting Sheamus, allowing Cesaro to attack him from behind. Cesaro goes on to beat him down for a solid minute or two. After that, we head to another commercial break.
Contract Signing: The Shield & Evolution
When we return from commercial, Michael Cole is standing in a ring with a table and a bunch of chairs set up. It’s time for the contract signing for the match at this Sunday’s Payback between The Shield and Evolution. Before Cole can even fully introduce The Shield, their music hits and they make their way to the ring through the crowd.
Dean Ambrose starts things off on the mic. Then, Seth Rollins talks. During both speeches, The Shield members throw every single chair, as well as the table itself, out of the ring. From there, Evolution’s theme music plays and out walks Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista.
As Evolution makes their way to the ring, Triple H — in detail — explains to The Shield why them signing the contract tonight to face them this Sunday at Payback is them signing the papers that guarantees we have seen the last of The Shield on WWE RAW. A “hounds of justice” chant breaks out as The Shield members, one-by-one, sign the contract.
Reigns signs it last and throws the contract and pen out of the ring and on the floor. Triple H picks it up and one-by-one, all of the members of Evolution sign the contract. Afterwards, HHH goes to verbally intimidate The Shield some more, but Reigns immediately cuts him off and says, “Just shut up. Get in the ring and fight.”
Evolution hops up onto the apron, as The Shield members get in a fight stance. Evolution pauses on the apron, but eventually comes into the ring. All six guys immediately go at it as the fans in Knoxville break out into a “this is awesome” chant. The Shield starts to get the upper-hand, however HHH uses a sledgehammer to give Evolution the offensive advantage in this brawl.
After beating down each member of The Shield with a sledgehammer, Triple H, along with Orton and Batista, set Reigns up for a triple-powerbomb through the announce table. The hit it, putting Reigns through the table in violent-fashion. HHH grabs the sledgehammer again as he and the other members of Evolution stand over a beaten down Roman Reigns to end the WWE Payback “go-home” edition of RAW.
