During this week’s WWE RAW broadcast, Daniel Bryan cut a promo and confirmed his neck injury that we reported on earlier. Bryan thanked the fans and talked about it being a long road to get to this point. Bryan recapped some of the obstacles he had to overcome to finally get his WWE World Heavyweight Champion. He continued to talk about how the attack from Kane resulted in him “paying the price”. He said his style also results in him having to pay the price. He then revealed what we reported earlier, which is that he needs to undergo neck surgery this coming Thursday. He said there’s a chance this could be the end of his career although that’s highly unlikely.
For what it’s worth, Bryan is scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday as he said on RAW. It was basically a “shoot” promo where everything he said regarding the neck injury was the real deal. We still don’t know when the injury occured but we’re guessing it happened at last week’s TV tapings as there were no WWE live events this past weekend.
The company is taking a “wait and see” approach to see how the surgery goes on Thursday before pulling him from the WWE Payback pay-per-view. They won’t know how long he’ll be out until after the surgery takes place. At that point, they’ll have an idea of how things went and how long his recovery time will be.
We’ll keep you posted as we hear more.
