WWE To Reveal The Amount Of Network Subscribers?

WWE’s Chief Financial Officer George Barrios had a presentation on Monday at the 26th annual ROTH (a Capital Partners company) Conference in Dana Point, California. He announced that WWE will reveal their first subscribers numbers for the WWE Network publicly on Monday, April 7, the day after WrestleMania 30. Of course, those who subscribe to the Network will be able to see WrestleMania for only $10. It remains to be seen if there will be WrestleMania stream issues though. The company is extremely worried about that.

He said that WWE will hopefully announce “our new domestic broadcast partner or, continuing on with our current partner” (NBC Comcast) by early May at the latest. He said that USA has been the #1 cable network for 29 quarters in a row “and it’s because of RAW.” He said one of the negotiation points of the deal is the “window of exclusivity” the partner will have for RAW and SmackDown. The partners want a longer window when it is theirs and WWE wants a shorter window to add it to the Network.

Barrios said that 90% of WWE material is viewed live, which helps them with potential partners. One of the company’s goals is to get more money value out of their ratings. He said that similar programs (like sporting events) get more money for similar ratings and the WWE is behind the NFL and MLB in getting the most money for their ratings.

Barrios said that their current TV ratings are flatter than they want but said that audiences have changed how they view shows and there is an over-saturation of the TV industry.
