UPDATE: Randy Orton doesn’t appear to be happy with us and posted the following on Twitter, regarding his reported injury at last night’s TV tapings…
Hey, remember when I said don’t listen to the net? I’m fine. Del Rio’s kicks are hard as hell, and I caught one to the neck, part of the job
— Randy Orton (@RandyOrton) July 17, 2013
When asked by a follower, “by “the net” do you mean WWE’s official company website,” Orton replied with, “No I mean every other site that runs the story and adds their 2 cents.”
As noted very late last night here on the website, Orton did work the dark match main event at Tuesday night’s TV tapings. With that being said, a fan in attendance says Orton never tagged in during that match. At the end of the dark match, Orton did hit an RKO. The fan in attendance noted “Thinking back, he was definitely off by the end of the show.”
In another update, Ashley sent this one in: I was sitting ringside and from what I could see Randy looked fine. In fact, he was joking around with Rob Van Dam and Daniel Bryan during the dark match. He didn’t work much during the match, but he did hit his finisher fine. He was also the last one to leave the ringside as he went around and signed autographs for, like, everyone.
ORIGINAL: WWE.com is reporting that Randy Orton suffered a cervical strain and cervical neuropraxia at the WWE SmackDown taping on Tuesday night in Providence, Rhode Island.
Orton worked a long TV match with Alberto Del Rio and worked in a six-man tag-team match in the post show dark match. There was no injury angle done on the live show. No word on if the injury occurred during the TV taping or during the post-show dark match but it sounds like the dark match as they wouldn’t have sent him out there if they knew about the injury beforehand.
More as we get it.
