NFL Talents To WWE Update + Rock’s Insane Income

Forbes.com has ranked the highest paid actors of 2013 – and Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson came in at #5. From June ’12-’13, it’s estimated that The Rock pulled in approximately $46 million.

NESN.com has an interview up with rookie NFL star Brennan Williams of the Houston Texans, who says he “100%” plans to look into a WWE career after he’s had a lengthy career playing football.

“I’ve got connections to Jim Ross and Booker T now,” said Williams. “Those are opportunities that a lot of guys otherwise wouldn’t have,” said Williams.

“Some of the more talented guys [in WWE] are little guys, but the guys they’re looking for are big strong, muscular-looking guys. There’s obviously a lot of them in football.”

— Entertainment publication Variety has an article up looking at WWE’s partnership with Doritos for this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view. In conjunction with Dollar General stores, WWE & Doritos will be giving away SummerSlam viewing parties that are hosted by Ricky Steamboat and Sgt. Slaughter. That promotion runs through July 21st.

WWE will also conduct fan correspondent searches, with the winners getting to interview WWE superstars for the WWE App. Frito-Lay’s VP of Marketing, Ram Krishnan, told Variety that we will see “one more surprise” this summer that will push its bold marketing to a whole new level.

WWE has been trying to get Doritos as a sponsor for several years now. According to the report, the company was swayed by the large audience WWE drew when John Cena spoke at the South by Southwest convention back in March. WWE’s strong social media presence is also seen as another factor that helped secure the partnership.

Speaking of WWE’s partnership with Doritos, the winner of the Doritos Jacked fan contest was backstage at Monday’s RAW from Brooklyn and got to meet Daniel Bryan. Here’s video of the meeting:
