— Former TNA star and ROH champion Homicide suffered a concussion during his match with Papadon at the Impact Championship Wrestling event last night in New York City. There is no word as of this writing on how long he will be out of action.
— The return event for ICW drew a reported attendance of 225-250 at the Elks Lodge in New York City. This is not the “Madhouse of Extreme” but a venue next door to that property. Owner Jac Sabboth noted at the event that he’s at a point where he wants to have fun because he simply “loves the business”.
— George Steele, Ox Baker, and Brutus Beefcake were on hand to sign autographs at the event. Steele took some time to meet ROH TV champion Matt Taven. For those unaware, Taven accidentally almost flattened Steele with a moonsault at an indy event a few years back.
— The current plan is to return to the Elks Lodge on 9/14 with ICW champion Tommy Dreamer vs. Dan Maff.
— Former ROH champion Xavier was at the show and was working backstage as an agent to try and make sure those in the ring maintained their time cues and to have someone give the younger members of the roster advice on how they can improve. An issue the company has had lately is the talent ignoring their time cues in the ring and they all go to work main event style matches.
— Harry Slash, writer of the ECW theme song, handled the booking for the event, and things he liked were prevalent on the show such as Little Guido defeating Maximum Sex Powers for the Hip Swivel Towel championship (basically a white towel). After Guido won, he acted like he won the WWE world title at WrestleMania. Guido also had his young son hit the ring and celebrate with him.
— Also visiting at the show last night was Shane O’Neil from NYWC and former ROH and ICW star Deranged, who’s now working full time in the music industry.
— Papadon is now selling a “Greek Fn’ God” t-shirt in the vein of old school ECW shirts. It has Greek lettering instead of the Barbed Wire motif.
— There was a reporter from the New York Times at the event who took photos and talked to different people throughout the show. It’s not yet known if an article is forthcoming but it seems likely.
