Ric Flair is no longer appearing at WrestleCon’s April 7th event over WrestleMania weekend. Flair has issued a statement via Facebook saying that he was never booked for the event, posting:
I haven’t talked to those guys about this event and neither have my managers. Sorry kids but I will NOT be attending. If something changes I’ll let you all know.
According to sources, Flair was booked for the event, signing with his former WCW partner Fifi the Maid for WrestleReunion. Flair had not spoken with WrestleReunion’s Sal Corrente, but the booking was made through Fifi who negotiated on both her and Flair’s behalf at Flair’s request.
Corrente has released an email from the negotiations stipulating that Flair would get a cashier’s check for half of his money up front when he arrived for the show and the rest in cash after his signing appearance. Corrente says he made it clear that he didn’t have any interest in putting down an advance on Flair due to past issues with him in regard to advances. Fifi had said Flair agreed to the terms last week and Flair’s appearance was announced after.
Corrente was contacted today and told that Flair would not appear without a deposit; he said that the deal had already been signed off on and the option was to honor the terms or cancel. Corrente must now refund several thousand dollars in signing and photo pre-sales. Fifi has confirmed the Corrente’s story.
