Mick Foley Postpones Back Surgery, WWE’s New Show, More

WSAZ reports that two men who were charged with two counts each of “child neglect creating the risk of injury” and misdemeanor battery have pled guilty to the lesser charge and are looking at two years in prison each. The men, Andrew Young and James Miller, are from Charleston, West Virginia and were charged in 2010 after leaving a two year-old with bruises and a fractured leg from practicing moves on her. The men were to go on trial Monday but decided to plead guilty to the misdemeanor charge, avoiding the other charge which is a felony. They will be sentenced in October and are looking at two years, one for each charge they pled guilty to.

— There is an article up at Variety discussing WWE Saturday Morning Slam, the kid-themed show that debuts on the CW on the 25th. The article noted that the company is trying to hook younger fans and recoup their rights fees and ad revenue lost when Superstars and NXT went off the air. You can read it here.

— During a recent comedy show in the UK, Mick Foley revealed that he recently postponed surgery on his back so he could still go through with the current UK tour. The surgery is now expected to take place in early September.

— In other Mick Foley news, he will be hosting a “Post-Summerslam Jam” comedy show at the Improv in Los Angeles, CA. The show will take place immediately following the SummerSlam pay-per-view event this Sunday. It will begin at 9:30PM Pacific time (the PPV will be over by then) and 50% of all ticket sales will be given to the RAINN charity that he is a part of. Numerous WWE talents are expected to attend the event.
