— ROH announced the following for the Survival of the Fittest tournament…
Entering into his 2nd SOTF tourney after winning it all in his first shot, entrant number two is “Unbreakable” Michael Elgin! Elgin defeated Kyle O’Reilly in the finals last year but, in an interesting turn of events, will be competing in this year’s edition before having received his title shot from his victory last year. That title match is currently scheduled for “Glory by Honor XI” in Mississauga on October 13th.
“Unbreakable” Michael Elgin
ROH Title(s) Held: None
SOTF History:
2011 SOTF Winner after defeating Kyle O’Reilly in the finals
The case of Michael Elgin will be quite an interesting one should he capture the SOTF crown on September 22nd in Baltimore and go on to win the ROH World Title on 10/13 live on iPPV. That will be a situation ROH officials will have to wait to address if it comes to it pass, for now Elgin is just one of the men in the field who could make history by winning SOTF for the second time.
Jay Lethal previously competed in the tournament back in 2005 where he made it to the finals, but there he was eliminated by eventual winner Roderick Strong. Earlier this year at “The Homecoming 2012” & on “Ring of Honor Wrestling” TV, Lethal came incredibly close to knocking off Davey Richards and capturing the ROH World Title now he will have his opportunity to earn another shot if he can win it all in Baltimore!
