In-Ring: Ronda Rousey, Alexa Bliss

Rousey stands in the ring, and she looks like she has tears in her eyes. A “Ronda Rousey” chant picks up. Rousey says today Natalya’s father, Jim “The Anvil” Neidhart, passed away. Any loss is heartbreaking, but to lose a father… fathers are pillars of strength in a hostile world. They are the reassurance that things will be ok. When that reassurance is ripped away, we have to face the fact that our fathers have been raising us to be the pillars of strength our families need when they’re gone. Rousey says, “Stay strong, Natalya Neidhart. We all love you.” The crowd starts up a “Nattie” chant.

Rousey says Nattie was the first person to welcome her when she came, and she’ll be the first to defend her in her absence. Alexa Bliss cheated to beat Natalya time and time again, but this Sunday at SummerSlam she’ll beat Alexa to become the new RAW Women’s Champion. That gets a good hand. Speaking of beating Alexa, she introduces the woman that will beat Alexa Bliss tonight: Ember Moon.

Alexa Bliss makes her way to the ring with Alicia Fox. Fox’s arm is wrapped up. Bliss is angry that people think the match at SummerSlam is a foregone conclusion. Rousey has had three matches while she’s a five-time champion. Rousey is a spoiled, overhyped rookie. SummerSlam will not be Rousey’s crowning achievement. It’ll be her utter humiliation. She’s sick and tired of hearing about Ronda Rousey and seeing the dumb look on her face. Bliss imitates Rousey’s face. She’s also sick and tired of Kurt Angle protecting everyone except his Women’s Champion. Angle kicked Roman Reigns out to protect his Universal Champion before SummerSlam, but Rousey gets to be at ringside despite being suspended. Bliss spoke to the only authority figure who is fair, Constable Baron Corbin. The constable suggested she hire her own personal security. Four security guards join Bliss onstage. Bliss says they’re highly trained and aggressive, so Rousey better not try anything.

While Rousey is getting out of the ring, Bliss pushes Moon into her to send her to the floor. Rousey angrily gets in the ring, but the four security guards stop her. Rousey then attacks them and gives three of them judo hip tosses. She turns to the fourth one, and he is absolutely terrified and runs away. Rousey then grabs Fox and gives her a judo hip toss. Bliss and Fox regain their composure at ringside. This match starts next.

Moon angrily screams and hits a pair of clotheslines before kicking her down, finishing with an enzuigiri. Corbin gets on the microphone and says he is so good. That’s a small taste of what he’ll do to Finn Balor at SummerSlam. Now it’s time for Finn Balor to show what he can do against “The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal. Mahal makes his way to the ring. Corbin says Balor thinks he’s so great, so maybe he’ll be better handling two superstars at once in a handicap match: Kevin Owens.

Baron Corbin introduces Finn Balor as “the little engine that can’t.” Finn Balor makes his way to the ring, ready for his handicap match.

Before the match begins, RAW GM Kurt Angle makes his way to the stage to loving chants of “You suck”. Angle says Stephanie may have approved of this match, but he makes the matches around here. He can’t cancel the match, but he can add to it. It’s not going to be a handicap match. It’ll be a tag team match. Balor’s tag team partner is… Braun Strowman! The crowd is loudly in favor of Strowman.

A guitar player named Ricky Roberts is in the ring, and he says his favorite musician is Elias. Roberts cannot play the guitar, but one day he’ll get so good that he’ll wind up in the Country Music Hall of Fame. When that day happens, Elias will come to him and say…

“Hello, I am Elias.”

Elias comes out and asks what he’s looking at. A stagehand brings a stool out for Elias to sit on. Elias says there is only one Elias in this world, and Roberts is looking at him. Elias gets that he’s a big fan, but is he a big enough fan to go on WWEShop.com to buy a “What Would Elias Do” bracelet? Roberts can impress him tonight if he beats and humiliates Bobby Lashley. Elias wants the crowd to think about how insane his life is. He’s sold out events, including Madison Square Garden three times. This Saturday night he has a concert at Gramercy Theatre in New York City. The night after that, he’ll perform his greatest song yet at SummerSlam. That’s because of a universal truth that everyone is aware of, which is WWE stand for Walk With Elias. Elias says Tarheels are a strong and resilient people. It must take an unmatched strength and resilience to wake up everyday knowing you’re living in the pile of garbage that is Greensboro.

Backstage: Kurt Angle, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre return the contract to Kurt Angle. Ziggler has a problem with the fact that Rollins is allowed to have someone in his corner. Angle says he could remove that, but that would mean McIntyre cannot be in his corner.

In-Ring: Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman, Brock Lesnar

Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring to his usual mixed reception. Reigns looks completely focused. Reigns says, “Leave this place better than I found it.” That’s something he tells himself everyday in his position. The truth is he’s never going to be able to accomplish that goal with Brock Lesnar here. That means it’s time for Brock Lesnar to go. Reigns is sick and tired of hearing about him, talking about him, looking at him, the lies, and the rumors. It ends this Sunday at SummerSlam. At SummerSlam, he’s taking back his Universal Championship. Reigns is going to send Lesnar so far back into UFC that he’ll find his head stuck in Dana White’s ass.

“Ladies and gentlemen… my name is Paul Heyman, and not to steal a line from anyone on Smackdown, but it’s a new day, yes it is!” If he were to steal a line from Smackdown, he’d steal it from The Usos, who are the future of the WWE tag team division. Speaking of the future of the division in WWE, he’s laying his eyes on the #1 Contender for the Universal Title, Roman Reigns. Reigns says Heyman must be confused, but this might be good. Heyman was able to cry on cue last week, so he’s interested in what he’s go to say this week. Reigns invites him in the ring. Heyman says this is Reigns’ week of history. Why wait until Sunday to make history? Reigns can start making history right here and now. Heyman isn’t sure if he heard what he said to Renee Young last week about Reigns not standing a chance against Brock Lesnar… unless Heyman tells Reigns every one of Lesnar’s dirty, big secrets. Heyman knows Reigns thinks he can beat Lesnar for the Universal Title this Sunday, but with Paul Heyman in his corner he’ll be coming in knowing that he will beat Brock Lesnar this Sunday and become the Universal Champion. Heyman extends his hand, and a “YES” chant breaks out.

Reigns says Heyman just doesn’t get that he already knows all of this. Reigns beat Brock Lesnar at Saudi Arabia. Lesnar wouldn’t have made it out of the cage if he didn’t spear him through it. It would have ended quicker if not for Heyman. Heyman says he is guilty as charged. Hopefully the sins of the father won’t reach his children. Heyman isn’t here to talk about the past. Heyman is a visionary and looking at the future. Heyman sees exactly one week from today this vision: “Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Paul Heyman and I am the advocate for the reigning, defending, undisputed Universal Champion, Roman Reigns!” Heyman extends his hand again, and Reigns just looks at him. Reigns says Heyman is trying, but it’s not good enough. Reigns was groomed at a young age for this position. His father taught him how to swim with sharks in this business. His father also taught him to recognize the sharks in this business that are drowning. Heyman is drowning. Reigns wishes him luck in his future endeavors. Heyman says Reigns is correct in that he’s drowning with his knowledge riding in the car with his uncle Afa and father Sika. Reigns’ father taught him something that he taught all of his sons. This came from the heart because it was taught in Samoan. Heyman speaks Samoan to Reigns, and he looks impressed. Heyman says he knows it because his father taught it to him. Heyman begs him to think it over and not give his answer tonight. Reigns can give him his answer at SummerSlam. Heyman hands him a piece of paper. Reigns looks it over… and Heyman sprays him with pepper spray! Heyman sprays him multiple times before leaving the ring.

A stagehand helps Reigns out until Brock Lesnar’s music hits! The WWE Universal Champion eagerly makes his way to the ring and hands the championship to Heyman. Lesnar looks at Reigns and starts kneeing away at his ribs. Lesnar then grabs him and takes him out with a guillotine choke! Reigns is unconscious, and Lesnar leaves the ring. Lesnar and Heyman walk up the ramp, but Reigns comes to. Lesnar runs down and gives Reigns an F5! Lesnar stands over Reigns before leaving the ring. Lesnar and Heyman then walk to the back.

Riott pulls Banks into the steel steps. Banks gets her hand caught in one of the hand holes in the steps, and Riott kicks the steps. Michael Cole thought we were going to commercial, but it doesn’t happen. Riott gets Banks in the ring and continues to attack the injured hand.

Banks elbows her in the face and hits a suicide dive on Sarah Logan. Banks knees Riott in the face, but Liv Morgan pulls her off the apron. Bayley then wipes out Morgan with a clothesline. Riott capitalizes on all the distractions by rolling Banks up for the win.

Winner by Pinfall: Ruby Riott

Backstage: Kurt Angle, Baron Corbin

Kurt Angle is backstage with Baron Corbin. A stagehand says there is no sign of Seth Rollins. Corbin says one of RAW’s biggest matches at SummerSlam might not happen because Angle waited until the last minute. Corbin says Angle can’t wait any longer. Angle angrily walks off.

Contract Signing: Kurt Angle, Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose

RAW General Manager Kurt Angle is in the ring for the contract signing. Angle wants to address the attack on Roman Reigns by Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Luckily medical personnel said Reigns will still be able to compete at SummerSlam. Angle says he won’t suspend Lesnar or strip him of the title. He wants Reigns to go in on Sunday, kick Lesnar’s ass, and bring the Universal Championship back to Monday Night RAW each and every week. Angle says Lesnar is the worst Universal Champion of all time.

Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre make their entrances. Ziggler says Seth Rollins isn’t here, so it’s time to call it. McIntyre says Angle cannot afford to lose another match. Even if Reigns couldn’t compete, Angle would prop him up and carry him out to protect his job. Ziggler says if this match isn’t happening, he can go do a standup comedy set instead. Angle introduces Rollins twice, but he doesn’t come out. Ziggler says the match is off. McIntyre says with all the beatings they’ve laid on Rollins, he’s run away. Ziggler says Rollins was a great champion. Rollins knows he can’t beat them, so he quit. McIntyre says Rollins was the architect of his own downfall. Ziggler says Rollins busted his ass for the WWE Universe and that is a one way street. They forget. This fickle audience forgets. They love when Seth burns it down, but they forget they used to love when he stole the show. It means nothing. The second you feel slighted or the shiny object loses it’s luster, the crowd turns their backs. It’s easy to be around for the good times, but not one of them stayed for the hard times. For the first time in his life, someone truly has his back. This guy doesn’t accompany him to the ring and ride his coattails. This psychopath pushes him every single night for the betterment of the company and the entire world. Ziggler doesn’t care about the people or stealing the show. They do whatever the hell they want, and they took the whole damn thing over.

Ziggler tells Angle to hand him the contract and make it a Seth Rollins forfeit. Angle looks at the contract and hands it to Ziggler. Ziggler signs the contract and hands it back to Angle. All of a sudden, Seth Rollins’ music hits, and he makes his way to the ring. Rollins apologizes to the crowd for having to sit through a Ziggler therapy session. Rollins says he’s been here a while, but he didn’t want to come out before Ziggler signed the contract. If he came out before, Ziggler wouldn’t sign after hearing what he has to say. Rollins was delayed by travel issues, but not his travel issues. The clause about having a partner in his corner at SummerSlam is intentional. Rollins is tired of dealing with them 2-on-1. Since Ziggler has the Scottish psychopath in his corner, he figured he’d better have a lunatic in his.

The crowd comes unglued as Dean Ambrose’s music hits! Ambrose comes out with a shorter hair and a full beard! McIntyre throws the desk out of the ring. Rollins and Ambrose get in the ring and attack Ziggler and McIntyre. Rollins superkicks McIntyre, and Ambrose finishes him off with Dirty Deeds! The crowd is on their feet for Ambrose! Rollins then signs the contract.
